    Morning all,
Well I love the tortoises (although some are not very well behaved are they ?).
I started a second Christmas present last night (done 1 yipeee!) and am trying to decide on a decent hat pattern for DS (2) and Uncle (em a lot older than 2, more like 60 odd lol!). Also must get some charity stuff done ? Where do the hedgehogs go that everyone talks about as I think I fancy doing one of them, and the hats and crib of course ;).
OK better see what DS wants, he is singing lol!

Good Morning everyone-- Oh its sooooo horrible here -- rain, rain, rain and bucketing down rain. " hooking " time methinks !

Orkney Star Be very careful about the hedgehogs. They take over your life and end up in a huddle.?action=view&current=IMG_1136.jpg

If you have a hedgehog hospital near you they may buy them from you which helps so much with all the postage costs. This has been a life saver to me this summer.

Kinsey -- Thanks for that link to the little shrug scarf. I love it and will do some NOW for pressies . Some patterns just get you going straight away and it will make a change from " hooking!!"

I am waiting for the Boiler Man as radiators wont heat--- AAAARRRhhh I hate bills. It nibbles away at the wool stash !!

Well I am going to send lots of cuddles and ver gentle thoughts to one and all. Especially if you are lurking and not feeling like posting.
Try and do a good deed every day.

from the selection you posted the other day :A and I'm having a bit of trouble. I don't understand his decreases (and unwilling to experiment at this point in the process :o) so have replaced them with guess what - k2tog. I don't know what I did wrong but the decreases do not seem to equal the number of stitches . Wondered if you might have a quick look at the pattern if you get a chance as I know your brain does the workings out whereas mine is never quite sure where we've gone wrong .
Hat looks really neat because I'm using circulars - very pleased so far. I intend to finish it (if I can sort the decreases with a little help from my friends :D) using 2 circulars rather than dpns. I tried this with a much smaller hat the other day and it worked beautifully. If anyone is interested in this technique, apart from the udder fixation (you'll see....) I found this link very easy to follow and the technique really simple.

Hi k2Tog - hmmm! you're right the decreasing instructions are confusing. Here goes

    Round 1: K2tog, k23, k2tog(twice), k23, k2tog(twice),k23, k2tog(twice),k23, k2tog.
    Round 2: Knit.
    Round 3: K2tog, k21, k2tog(twice), k21, k2tog(twice),k21, k2tog(twice),k21, k2tog.
    etc.

You are decreasing 8 stitches per row.

    Hope this helps

    luv

ISOM - oh, well done! I can't wait to see the photos. Louis is our first ever tabby - we had an almost-human black and white cat, called Dennis, and a neurotic ginger cat, called Trevor, in the past. I spend ages admiring Louis' markings! Hope you choose a name soon, and that he or she settles in with you straight away! Hope you've got a spare pair of pants - just in case!

Thanks for the scarflette pattern Kinsey, might just have time to do a few for Loving hands - I know it might not be suitable for the men but ladies need to be kept warm too and it would be quick to do in the chunky wool I have here.

Went into the BIG CITY this morning - oh how I hate doing that - but got some more C*****y pressies for the grandchildren, not much left to get now so more time for knitting - yay !!!!

Re turtle / tortoise pattern. I asked on LH and one of the ladies there does very cute ones, so have asked her to send the pattern to me. If you have a look among the donations you`ll see it I think. No time at the mo to look for it but will do later and try to let you see it. If anyone wnts the pattern just let me know.

    Back later.
