Maytaurus Thank you for such a lovely post it brought tears to my eyes. ((Big hugs)) and love to you going through alzheimers with your own DMum. My Uncle is going through it with his wife so I know how hard it is. She has been really advanced with it for about 6 years now and he's still struggling on at home with a little respite care now & again. Recently she has become violent towards him so I don't know how much longer he will be able to hold out before looking at residential care.
Everyone who has lost someone, & there do seem to have been a lot us recently, please know that you are all in my prayers & thoughts. Take care.

Hi everyone,
So sorry to read about your mum Lorna, sending you lots of ((hugs)) at this sad time.
F1 I was so upset that your DS is still having trouble with those horrible bullies and that school are not helping. ((hugs)) for you and DS.
All the poems are lovely and all of them mad me cry.
OrkneyStar sorry to see you go, I will miss you as I always enjoyed reading your posts. Take care.x
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately I seem to have one disaster after another here at the moment, I have to wait in all day today for the electrician as our economy 7 timer broke and our storage heaters haven't charged up since Thursday night and it's blooming freezing in here,I phoned Friday morning & as it was still working they booked an appointment for the 27th, heaters never charged up Friday night at all so I phoned them up Saturday morning to say it's stopped working completely only to be told to ring back Monday as there is no-one there to book an emergency call out. Can you believe it? I am so mad I can't tell you.
Anyway, sorry to rant on so much,(I don't like being cold as you can tell)lol.
Off for a cuppa to warm my hands, love to all.x:jWooligans Totals 2010:

Although I have never met any of you, and I'm new to this thread (being more of a lurker than a poster), reading of your sad losses has really touched me. I hope you don't think I'm butting in but I wanted to show you a poem that we had read out at my dad's funeral - I found it very beautiful and comforting and I hope you will too.
Death is nothing at all...
I have only slipped away to the next room...
I am I and you are you...
Whatever we were to each, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak it to me in the same way you always used.
Put no difference into your tone,
Wear no false air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the ghost of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident.
I am but waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner.
All is well.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Yes, we have all been touched by a lot of personal sadness lately but hopefully soon as signs of Spring burst forth we shall be blessed on this thread with some inspiring happy news.

Afternoon all,:hello:
Never made it in here yesterday, DS2, DIL and DGS came for lunch and stayed for tea as well. O it was lovely having the little chap here for such a long time. Its his birthday on Wednesday he will be 2. DS2 and DIL said its as though he has always been with them not just 10 months.
Jo my friend is coming to stay for a few days tomorrow until Saturday. She has sold her bungalow and is staying with her son until the house she likes is available, apparently they have bought another house and are doing it up so should be moving out around the end of February if all goes well.
I managed to finish DGD2’s wrist warmers and the back of the little jumper last night, so thats a bit of my WIP ‘s done, also got half a square done will finish it and get a couple more done for next weeks update.
Kathy – you just carry on, I see the excitement is mounting as the time gets closer:j
Some more lovely words on here today from ISOM and Jennyjelly, and reading May’s post with the poems from the last few days on, has brought a lump to my throat and I must say a few tears.

Im off to get DS in a while wonder what sort of day he had - am at present in conflab with governors will report back on that one ..
On the needles at the moment is a square vest - funny thing is I can whizz through an eight inch square but an extra 4 stitches on each row has really slowed me down (whats all that about .....)Debt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
JennyJelly & Paulineknit Welcome to the thread. I haven't been here long and everyone is so welcoming, kind, supportive & helpful
I have nearly finished the pom pom scarf that I started on Saturday night. I'm getting bored of it now but want to get it finished before I cast on anything else or I'll end up with several Works in Progress :rotfl: Think another Ventilator Bonnet will be next or some cardies.
MIL's funeral is tomorrow at 2.15pm the last week seems to have flown by. SIL is going back to work on Wednesday it'll do her good. I'm going to start suggesting that we do something together on a Saturday from now on, as we always took her Mum shopping or went to see her in the care home so we'll be like lost souls for a while I would imagine. Even if we go for a walk with my dogs or window shop & have a coffee in town at least we'll be out & about.
Have a good evening everyone. I'm about to have an early bath as there's only DD in at the moment the boys are all out. DS3 is at my Mum & Dad's for his tea so they'll bring him back later on.
More knitting tonight then I think while I watch Corrie & Eastendersto all xx

Hi everyone - had a job getting on here for a while. The page just kept trying to load but not getting anywhere.
Anyway, such moving words have been posted on here that must bring great comfort to those in need of them right now. Thank you so much for sharing them with us.
Jennyjelly - welcome to you.
Sunny Girl - I hope tomorrow goes as well as can be expected. I think it's a great idea to plan something with your SIL to do on Saturdays.
Well, having been running around all day trying to sort out vehicles, we are exhausted now and just about ready to flop down on the sofa. DH's van is totally legal now and my car has two months grace during which time I have to replace two rear tyres and get the headlights changed for French driving - not looking forward to that expense but will put it out of my mind for now!
Will do the update tomorrow when things have calmed down here a bit.
Have a great evening.

Hi everyone
Haven't logged in for a couple of weeks and have spent ages trying to catch up om all the posts!
Although I am a new member I would just like to pass some hugs to everyone who has lost some dear i recent weeks. It is hard at any time but this time of year I always think is particularily difficult.
I haven't actually got the needles out yet, but I have managed to put the xmas decorations away!! and have been concentrating on sorting/shredding and filing an enormous pile of paperwork. Slowly slowly it is getting smaller.
I'm hoping next week to get my needles out.
I have reserved a couple of crochet books from the library including Happy Hooker.
Hope to log in again soon.
