Lorna, it`s nice to hear from you again, we`ve all missed you.

I`m so sorry to hear you have lost your dear Mum as well, and know just how you are feeling. As you say, once the running about is over you feel totally lost, as if you should be doing something for her or just having her there to chat to.
I lost my Mum over 15 years ago and still go to pick up the phone to pass on some piece of news.

I know you will have heard this before, but things will ease for you - the pain of losing her doesn`t go away but it does get easier to bear, believe me.

I`m sure the rest of your family will be there for support, but please don`t forget that we are all here for you as well. Sometimes it`s easier to come on here and rant and rage at the unfairness of life with `virtual` friends than close family, as I found out last year.
I`m sure lots of the girls will be on soon passing on their condolences and sending you lots of healing hugs.

Keep your chin up Lorna and have some (((hugs))) from me to be going on with.

LC Wilson I am so sorry you have lost your Mum. I know it is a sadness like no other.
Although 5 years has passed since I lost my Dearest Mum I think of her every day. A friend said " It isnt til you lose your Mum you have to grow up!"

I am sure you had the most marvellous Mum just like Pam and thank you so much for sharing that poem with us It took but a second to remember the one read at my Mums Funeral

I am standing on the seashore,
A ship sails and spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
    And starts for the ocean.
She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says “ she is gone”.
    Gone where?
Gone from my sight that is all.
She is just as large in the masts, hull and spurs, as she was when I saw her,
and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.
The diminished size, the total loss of sight is in me not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says “She is gone”
There are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up the glad shout.
    “here she comes.”

At this time of sadness let friends and loved ones hold your hand and lead you along. In time you will I promise you be left with such happy memories and as the days pass you will look in the mirror as I do in the mornings and who is there to greet you -- your Mum !!

    Hello all

Lovely touching poems on here today :A

I dont seem to have got anything finished out of my WIP bag, my friend rang with details of the funeral and we just talked for over an hour, then I didnt feel like much of anything so I went and had a shower, did my nails that sort of stuff where I could be on my own for a bit, then had a brandy and coke and went to bed with a book.

Lorna - We have really missed you, I did wonder if was because your Mum was poorly that you havent been in. I am so sorry to hear your sad news about your Mum.
f1widow - it was me who sorted them into "colour" bags, how long they will last like that who knows
kathy - Summer will look lovely in the dress, hope you manage to get the shrug done in time for when you go.
Pam (((hugs))) thinking of you today x

Off to get my hook going on the Art of Crochet square for this week, dont think I will keep it up, the magazine I mean not crochet, there are sooo many parts to it over 100 so it makes it waaaay to costly.
Forget who now but someone posted how much it would cost for them all and it was

enjoy the rest of your evenings all

Pam My thoughts are with you & hope that today went as well as it could do for you all xx

LC Wilson I am a new poster to this thread but wanted to say how sorry I am to read about your Mum. Big hugs to you xx

Orkneystar Sorry to read that you are not going to post any more I shall miss you.

Such lovely poems have been posted I have had a little cry reading them. It is MIL's funeral on Tuesday and I, too, was wondering how SIL & I will go on once that's over. I don't know when she is going back to work yet but I think it will help to keep her busy. I'll be here for her and DH too. He's still doing the 'manly' thing & not showing his grief but it'll all come out eventually & we can all help each other when it does.

I have had a relaxing day starting well as nobody woke up until 9.30am - almost unheard of in this house  My Mum came over for a few hours this afternoon & we had a good time chatting. I have armed her with 2 balls of baby wool & needles and she is going to become a charity knitter too :T:T She is starting on the ventilator bonnets - maybe we'll have another addict here ;) I have done a hat for Mum today in the same style as Dad's so they're both very pleased. I have also cast on another pom pom scarf in cream with gold flecks for a Christmas present.

Have a good evening & I shall be on tomorrow to post my totals.

Hi Lorna - it's so good to hear from you but I was saddened by your news. I can understand your heartbreak; don't forget we are all here for you to offer a collective virtual shoulder to cry on. I'm blessed to have my mother still (she's 80 this year), but I lost my dearDad forty-one years ago on 9th Feb and he is still very much in my mind every single day. It DOES get easier but takes time.

(((Hugs))) to all those who have lost their Mums.

Paulineknit - welcome to you. We've always knitted and crocheted squares but lots of other essential things besides, so you are more than welcome to make as many as you want. The need is always there. The latest (8") squares are for Chalky's idea to celebrate the continued success of this thread. Each blanket that Chalky sews together for us will go to a different deserving cause; she loves the sewing up so just keep the squares coming!

    Dear Lorna,
My heart goes out to you. Feelings do get easier but it takes time. I lost my Mum four and a half years ago but I still talk to her every day. When I have a vase of flowers I put her photo beside them because she loved flowers. My sister has a particular star that she looks for every night and swears it's Mum looking down on us. We all find our own way eventually. Chalky got it right when she said you look in the mirror and see your Mum, that's true for me but not my sister or brothers, and I often wonder how they must feel when they look at me, maybe it gives them some comfort. Be very sure that we are here for you,
Lots of love and hugs and mingled tears,
    Diane. xxxx

Good Morning everybody and love to all.
    Lots of gentle thoughts too

The house is still smelling lovely from the oil making yesterday.

We are off to a local restaurant for lunch today. So must get the " Heads, Shoulders, Knees and toes" bit done first!! My attention span for exercise is a lot shorter than my attention span to crafting!!

Well I am not approaching these little dogs very methodically -- there are ears everywhere !!! Will get there!!

Have good days everybody and a special welcome to PaulineknitHope you like it here.
