    Sorry I can't help Pippa - I'm clueless.
Cute cat Kathy - he's gorgeous.
I also must confess to buying wool today, but it is for a very specific project so I don't feel too guilty. Got some lovely heritage yarn (high wool content) which is one of the only yarns made in this country and they do a great colour range.

Hi everyone. I've been MIA all afternoon because we've been shopping for more insulation and plasterboard - so exciting!

ISOM - I'm so glad you were able to meet up with Seakay at the knitting group. I wish we could all come together!

Pippa - I hope you can suss out Imageshack. I've never been able to post on here with Photobucket, Flickr or any of the others, but I found Imageshack really easy. Make sure you click where it says 'direct link' or something like that - not in the orangey box that comes up, but to the right of it. When I clicked in the orangey bit, my photo didn't post either, but it did when I did it the other way. I hope this makes sense! I'm delighted that Maytaurus told us about Imageshack - I'm sure it's just something very simple you're doing wrong. I shall look out for the photo of your Bliss scarf! Keep perservering with it. Thanks for your comment on my blog!

Thanks to Lisa, too, for commenting!

Well, I've only skimmed the last few posts - I'll try and catch up later. Off to cook the dinner.

    KathyXX

Well, I signed off ages ago but forgot to post! Had dinner, cleared up, had a shower and now I'm going to sit crocheting.

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

  • Dear All,

Firstly, a huge THANKYOU for all the welcome back messages, they’re really appreciated and made me realise what a fab bunch of friends I have on here – so thank you all again!

Well, time has simply flown by since we went off to the Isle of Wight back in August….so a quick update of what’s been happening.

HOLIDAY – camping on the Isle of Wight in August was gorgeous; weather was stunning, campsite was lovely and quiet and very family friendly, and we spent lots of time on the beach, just simply enjoying the sand and the sea. Scarlett decided that she like the taste of the sand, and loved the water. Her favourite past-time was squashing all Jacob’s carefully crafted sand castles; save to say he wasn’t a happy bunny!

WORK – I started a temporary job which was meant to last 6 weeks in the middle of August, and I’m still there!! Contract has been extended to the end of October, and I have applied for the position on a permanent basis, with an interview on the 21st. I also have an interview for something entirely different on the 9th, so we shall see what happens and cross various bridges regarding school and childcare when we need to. Downside to where I am now is that it’s literally ROUND THE CORNER from Texere Yarns … far too much temptation there (and I think that may be why my stash is growing….)

DS – started Big School at the beginning of September; just where did my wee little boy go? He’s there all day, loving school dinners and exhausted by teatime. He looks so sweet in his uniform, and yes, I did take the obligatory “first day at school in uniform” photo for the future.

DD – is now the ripe old age of ONE! She turned one on the 11th September, and I still can’t believe the changes babies go through in their first year. She was sooooo small when she was born (a teeny tiny 5lbs 2oz) but has more or less caught up and weighs 20lbs now. Toddling round the furniture and generally being super cute and adorable are her specialisms.

We wouldn’t be without either of them – they make our lives complete in so many ways.

It was also the second anniversary of my dear Mum’s death at the end of August, and I still cry just thinking of her sometimes. I know she sent Scarlett to us, and I thank her every day for that.

So, it’s been a busy few months/weeks, and I have had my knitting to keep me through the dark bits. Parcels will be posted when I find boxes and parcel bags…..

Am currently experimenting with angel wings for the small teddies for the Memory Boxes so there are a pair of angel bears. Does this sound like a good idea?

Haven’t been keeping up with my updates, sorry – will have a blitz when I do the posting (or rather, when I parcel things up for DH to post). Dh is now main childcare person as I’m working….so far, the arrangement is working fine!

Love to each and every one of you gorgeous lovely people, and huge hugs all round. Sorry it’s a very “me me me” post – I’ll catch up with all your news later and reply to what you’re all up to.

    Lots of love

    Dawn xx

Just been reading through all the posts - I've had an EXHAUSTING week to date and have only managed to finish the dishcloth I was knitting, so feel pathetic compared to all of you :o.

I work full time, have two teenagers and my DH is currently in France, so by the time I get home, ferry the kids, see to the dog, cat and hens, make the dinner and get ready for the next day, I haven't had much energy this week! I had Rainbows tonight, and am still feeling slightly hoarse after running round after a crowd of screaming, giggly 5-7 year olds. Wouldn't swap 'em though...

Anyway, as my brain has turned entirely to mush, I need someone to make a decision for me please! I have looked through Loving Hands and all the various charity stuff and I have spent last evening and this evening thinking, ooh, I'll knit that... no, I'll knit that... ooh, should I perhaps do that? As a result, I have done NOTHING. I can't remember the last time I had two evenings in a row without knitting something.

Could someone be very kind and say, Jane, knit THIS and send it HERE when you're finished. I could cope with that I think. Doesn't matter what it is - oh, actually, not a boob as I haven't got any stuffing in the house at the moment. DH is back on Friday so I'll be slightly less fraught next week and can make my own decisions.:rotfl:(Actually, DD is 14 on Sunday and I've got seven giggly girls turning up Saturday night for a sleepover so maybe I WON'T be able to make any decisions until slightly later next week...) ;)

happy to oblige...here make this!! Nice n easy (must be cos I managed!) but would say for a new knitter (if like me you are one) its k2,p2 forst row then p2,k2 and then repeat row 1& 2 until required size...puzzled over that one for a bit!!
    Enjoy!

    Good morning everyone.

PTBear - it's great to have you back! Sounds like you've had a busy few months! Hope everything goes well for you on the job front, and congratulations to DD's 1st birthday! (((Hugs))) to you - you must really miss your Mum.

ChocClare - try and take a breather, although it sounds difficult at the moment! ISOM has suggested well with the super-stretchy hat!

Well, yesterday disappeared without a trace almost. Having trailed around the DIY stores with DH, I suggested that, as we were already out, we could do the weekly shop. Because I've been a bit under the weather, I haven't felt much like food shopping, and we've been living out of the freezer and store cupboards, so everything was running out. I've got really stocked up now, so, once I've done some baking this morning, I can stop thinking about it and get on with other more important things, knitting and crochet!

I must, must, must sort out all the hats and booties I've made - some of which still need sewing up - and get them parcelled up, and I'll get my twenty IS hats off in the post tomorrow, too.

Well, that's spoiled my morning - I've just seen the biggest spider strolling across the room! I've now got my feet up on the legs of my chair. It's gone behind the filing cabinet so I hope it stays there! I hate the spiders here - Jean, how do you cope?

Off to have another cuppa and try and forget the spider - just hope it doesn't get in to my knitting bag!

    KathyXX

p.s. - will definitely try and get the update done this afternoon! Thanks for all your totals!
