First of all sorry for not being on the forum more, I have been run off my feet this last week. DH and his flu are now out of bed and walking wounded! I managed to stick being the nursie for a week then I had to turf him out the bed. I have taken down all the fly screens off the windows, packed them all away till spring. Did the washing of the windows trick then blow me down it rained and rained and yep you guessed it rained again – who wrote that law?
Maytaurus many thanks for your lovely posts
Moiliere – try the French option for spiders/mice etc. Plant lavender and or mint near the doorways and windows. Or make up a spray bottle using water with mint (oil or crushed). Huille de’ menthe (spelling?) or essence de Citronnelle (which is fantastic at keeping the mosquitos away). I think the reason you have so many at present is because your DH is doing some serious DIY. They will all leave eventually, they are good at eating lots of really horrid pests but I understand your reluctance to keep them as pets!
Got the knitting machine on the go at the weekend and managed a couple of dog blankets, so I will get them finished off and posted to the dogsos – think it’s the least I can do.
OK got to run and get my lunch Wednesday is busy day for me.
Big cuddles to everybody, hope to get back in soon and catch up with all the forum news, as well as the blogs – where does the time go

Hi Jean - thanks for the tips. I haven't got any mint; I wonder if mint sauce would work? I do have some lavender oil so will give that a go. I've already been collecting conkers - I found them quite effective in the UK. Just nick each one with a knife and place them in the corners. I really should put mine down, but no doubt Louis will think they're for him. I think you're right about the DIY, though. DH said that he's doing his best to seal all the cracks to minimise the spiders? The spiders here that I really don't like are really big but don't really run, they just stalk about looking tall. This morning's even had his own shadow, he was so big. Do you get those 'eyelash' thingeys? They're pretty gruesome, like centipedes which look like eyelashes when they are still, but raise themselves up on all their horrid little legs and scuttle off faster than any spider!
Anyway, now I've scared myself again, I'm off for a cuppa!

Kathy look up pine processionary caterpillars - if its them you have be extremely careful.
I looked on pages jaune to see where your local BIOCOOP (Health food shop?) is and its Poitiers? Most pharmacies sell essential oils tho'.. It might take a while for the mint to grow ha ha. Think the mint sauce will only work on the LAMB!!

Hi Jean - not very nice caterpillars, are they? I shall keep a look out for them and avoid them if I see them. Thanks for the info. I've seen essential oils in the pharmacies here, and will get some menthe. My SIL here has started growing veggies for the first time, and she's been very successful - I'm sure she's got some mint, so I will ask her for some. I know it roots and spreads easily, so will contain it in a pot. Spidey is still hiding somewhere - I think he's nocturnal. Louis the kitten is in the same room, but he's fast asleep at the moment. I think this particular spider would be too big a mouthful for him!
Anyway, I'm off to collect the totals for the update, so I'll see you all later.

Lovely pics, Chalky - the blankets look great! They're about the same size that I'm doing mine - I still have the ends to sew in on DGD's and I'm still working on DGS's - it's just been so hard finding the time to sit down for more than an hour at a time! I also want to make some of your name-bunting for my latest granddaughter, Summer. Oh, by the way - how have you labelled your lapghans? It's a good idea to add your name and I want to pinch it, if you don't mind!
Anyway, I've just gathered up all the totals - it's going to be an amazing update but may take some time! I'm working on it until dinner needs starting off (oh, why do we have to stop and cook?).
ISOM - your scarf is lovely! Well done!
