    Hello all !

Still working on my crochet practice, but getting even more confused after looking up instruction on the Internet.
ISOM - according to what I have found you were showing me a double crochet and the lady at the group was showing me a single crochet! Not sure if there is a difference between British and American, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about!
Your scarf looks fabulous, by the way.
I got a load of crochet hook in different sizes at a charity shop so I can use up wool in all thicknesses as I practice, and maybe us the practice pieces as blanket squares.

    Me again

ISOM - love the colour you have used for your scarf :T The pattern I used is the Bliss Ruffle one, from Caron International, I think Kathy used the same one, someone posted it on here some time ago.

Kathy - fancy using the same colour, but its nice isnt and goes with almost everything, I did'nt even have to buy it, my sister gave me a HUGE bag of wool last time she came up and it was in there, she said she loved the colour but just could'nt get to grips with knitting so I surprised her with it, (patchwork is her forte) I am hoping to get a few more done for Christmas presents. Louis is sooo cute hope he manages to scare spidey away just by being there ;)

Chalky - your blankets are sooo good the colours are lovely and bright, like the finishing touches I think it makes them special. I have started picking up bright colours as and when I see them, so far I have vivid orange, egg yellow, purple and shocking pink. I intend to do a ripple blanket similar to the one on attic24 it just looks so cheerful :D

Seakay - have you tried attic24? the instructions on there are clear and very good. UK and US terms are different, - U.S sc is UK dc - U.S dc is UK treble. Hooks are different as well.

mrs-moneypenny - hope all is well with you

Chocclare - boobs are good to do as they are always needed, I never stuff my boobs now as L/H and Preemies don't mind finishing off as long as you leave a long tail for sewing up.

Elaine - how did DS get on at the dentist today??

Well better go get the dinner sorted its an empty the fridge day today soooo we have left in there... 3 sausages, half a tub of beans and 2 eggs, so its sausage, egg, beans, chips from the freezer and bread and butter, with coffee cake for afters.
THEN its TV on, curtains closed, sofa and knitting for a few hours hopefully.....bet the phone goes and I end up nattering for hours instead :D

Hi ladies - been mia for a few days but have lurked - have only just crawled out of ironing pile - have decided if it takes that long to iron we have too many clothes .... my fault for leaving it though !!

ooo you were talking books earlier - love books - another passion of mine in the charity shops .... I like autobiographies - real life stuff - tales of country life/days gone by

chocclare - snap - your post is just like me - I see things people need & think ooo I will have a go at that then when finished I think oh no what shall I do now then something else crops up & then my brain ends up like a big ball of wool :rotfl::rotfl:- the boobs you dont need to stuff as the lovely shezmit does that for us - just sew up so far & leave a long tail for her to finish off once stuffed (not sure if same applies to LH) - i like the buntings - they are very easy & quick to knit

isom - I agree the super stretchy hat is great & quick (which I love...) & also the instructions I also puzzled over for ages - had one of my la la moments then had to ask on here (about a dozen times:o)

chalky - blankets are lovely !

maytaurus - your posts are truly inspirational & so funny thank you - also your latest updates WOW! - the elephant blanket is fantastic - will try & have a go at that

ptb - welcome back & thanks for telling us all your news - great to hear from you

psso - hugs coming to you re dentist - (she whispers - am due in hospital in November to have the remains of all my teeth out as am too nervous to go to dentist - then I will be able to say - all I want for xmas is my two front teeth ha ha !!! or rather a whole set :rotfl::rotfl:) - see you are busy hope you are taking care

pippa - love the scarf colour is lovely

isom - the wool you have used is lovely & scarf great too

oh well the oven is calling me - love to you all & hope I have not missed anyone I should have mentioned if I have sorry - hugs to all - Jaqui xxx

Chalky - all your blankets are fabulous. Love the picture of Buster and so glad he is getting better.

Update half done, then I got roped into helping with the DIY again - could do without that. It's so tedious, although I know it has to be done.

F1 - poor you. I was a dental nurse in a former life and many people are still scared of the dentist, yet most treatments are much less painful and gory than they used to be. Good luck when you go in - shame you have to have the rest of your teeth out, though.

Pippa - I didn't have to pay for the wool for my Mum's scarf, either. She gave it to me in a big bagful when I was back in the UK. I told her she'd recognise it!

Off to sort out the dinner.

Thank you all for your very helpful suggestions. I am by no means a novice knitter - quite the reverse actually - but that's often half the problem, isn't it?! I know there's nothing I CAN'T knit, so that just makes it harder to eliminate stuff! Crochet now - I *can* do all the stitches, I'm just rubbish at remembering which bit I have to put my hook through on the preceding row. Granny squares I can manage! Practice, that's what I need

As I said though, what's missing from my life at the moment is the ability to think straight. I think I will put on a dvd with some nice, pretty man in it for me to ogle at for an hour or so and just work my way through your suggestions, which all look nice and straightforward. I might have a go at a boob if they don't need to be stuffed - my own (boobs) come into the room about ten minutes before I do at the best of times and made up most of my pregnancy weight when I had my two kids, so I might find it depressing to knit a "standard" sized boob!
