Hello all,
Its been a long time, I hope everyone is well. Going to try and catch up on whats been happening after posting this might take me a while though. Havnt posted for ages or even crocheted for a while (even though typically i still managed to increase my wool supply). Looks like you lot are still doing a great job .
Lots more time on my hands so looking to contribute once again.
Off to grab a cup of tea

Hi SuziQ5 - well done you, don't want to risk running out of stash
.
Have a couple of little problems/questions so hoping someone can help.
Have completed a 2 colour ripple and have carried the yarn up the side so one side isn't very tidy. Has anyone else added crochet edging on a ripple and if so, what stitches?
Another one (Pam, I should hide now) I am doing the sailor hat pattern on the first page of the winter challenge page on LH and the decreases don't add up (or rather decrease down) correctly. Has anyone else started this pattern and managed to work out the decreases?
Would have problems at the best of times but no chance while head is full of cold and Lemsip.
Hope everyone is feeling better and not getting too much rain. MIAs are in my thoughts - would love to know that Lorna is OK.0 -
Hi K2,
you're right about the decrease on the sailors hat - will have to look at it again tomorrow to fudge it properly, too many drinky poos now - oops!
luv

Hi everyone.
Well, the good news is that my sister was allowed home yesterday (the bad news is that she has to wait four weeks for the test results to determine what the problem was, but they seem to think it's a reaction to all the meds she has been on). She couldn't wait to get home. It's made me angry because I was assuming she was having a rest in hospital but it turns out she was on a mixed ward (thought they were supposed to be doing away with those) and some patients were really difficult. One emptied a bottle of hand wash all over my sister while she was sleeping (she's just grateful it wasn't a bedpan!); another, a man, was wandering around the ward all the time shouting abuse at the other patients. She found it really stressful, poor thing. Anyway, she's back at home being spoiled, I'm glad to say.
SuzyQ - good to hear from you.
I hope all the poorly ones are starting to feel a lot better now.
K2tog - with the ripples, I just do a row of single crochet around the edge. It really seems to finish it off. You could also do that but, if you want something fancier, after the sc row, just go round again making a sort of picot edging - ch 2 at the start of the row to count as as the first st then *sl st into next sc, chain 3 or 4, then sl st into the same st* all the way round. It really does hide all the yarn that's been carried up the side.
Hopefully, I'm well enough now to go to the Mayor's Beaujolais Nouveau evening tonight - we're really looking forward to it. I've never been to one before so it should be fun, plus, after the lovely 'welcome to the area' afternoon we attended last month, we should already know a few people there. We just have to decide who is driving tonight!
Last night, amidst all the dozing off on the sofa, I managed to finish a Christmas pressie skinny scarf; it just needs a fringe, then I shall take a photo of it. I've started a pair of wrist-warmers in pink 4-ply for a niece, and I've also started a bunting in the shell pattern that I used for the scarf. There are a lot of things I want to make but I daren't have any more WIPs at the moment. I'm still working on DGS's lapghan, too. That's the trouble with finding new patterns - you want to make them all at once!
Now that I've mastered the fabulous new update spreadsheets that Jean has designed and constructed for us, I don't dread the update any more! I'll try and do the final update each week on Mondays from now on, and the cut-off point will be Sunday evenings, which gives everyone the weekend to do their totalling. From now on, it should be a real doddle to do, and, thanks to Jean, less likely that I'll make mistakes!
I hope none of you are suffering with all that torrential rain in the north of the UK - it all looked terrifying when I caught up with the news last night.
Anyway, as usual, the kettle is calling.

Morning all,
Kathy - glad your sister is now home safe, those mixed wards are horrible aren't they! Fingers crossed for good results.
Shaz - don't worry about your meds being increased, mine go up for winter as a matter of routine now makes a great difference - I still don't like the winter, but I cope with it a lot better.
K2Tog - decreasing the hat - you need to lose 5 stitches so stick in an additional row before starting the decrease pattern
k11, k2tog, (k21, k2tog) 4 times, k10
this leaves you with 110(120) stitches to start decreasing per the pattern.
(((HUGS))) to everyone who need/want them.
'bye for now
luv

Hi everyone and thanks for your good wishes for my sister.
Mrs Moneypenny - please don't feel bad if you've nothing to update. As I've said before, there's no pressure on anyone. I know many of us are concentrating more on Christmas at the moment - I know I am, with so many people to get presents for. My last update was 20 poppies (I must check to see if Lou got them), and I have a load of hats and booties to send over but, like Chalky, I'm going to bring them all over when I visit the UK in the new year. The cost of postage is dreadful here, and I'd rather spend the money on wool when I next come back.
Shaz and Pam - (((hugs))) to you both. I don't feel too bad during the winter months but I know people who are, so I do sympathise.
Well, DH is home sniffling and coughing a bit so we'll have to see how he is before we decide whether we are going to the Beaujolais evening tonight. The last thing we want to do is spread whatever germs I've had for the last two to three weeks - the French would never forgive us!
