Fuel allowance...

Maybe it is just for students at higher colleges who don't get loans??"Well, we are a Christian country, it is an important part of our make-up and I don't see any reason to change." David Cameron0

Don't be daft.
If you are receiving the normal loans and grants for your course, you are expected to pay for your travel out of this. Surely?
5 miles each way is nothing... Is the cost of parking a factor? Because the cost of fuel for that small distance can't be an issue can it?
If you use public transport, I wonder if there is some way to check your eligibility for a bus pass?
Other than that, get real.0 -
2 people I know went to a higher education college and got fuel allowance, slightly different than university and I think they got student loans so same principle I would have thought?
Do you have to pay your student loan back?
I get some maintanence grant but in the main my funding is in the form of student loans which do have to be paid back. As payless said, there is some funding available for disabled students who travel to university. However this rarely pays for all travel costs, rather it pays any extra cost which may be incurred by the student due to their disability e.g. paying the fare for an extra person to help the student travel0 -
I cant believe you are even asking for such a short distance too. Shall workers ask for travel allowance mealy because they go to work?
When I was a student I couldn't afford a car, or ipod and had to work part time to keep me going0 -

Do you have to pay your student loan back?
I have to pay mine back because my parents earn too much to get it free like alot of my friends, but lets look at it realistically, my parents aren't giving me a penny towards uni so what difference does it make!?
None of this makes any sense whatsoever.
Funding for degree level study is exactly the same whether it's done at a college or a university and travel expenses haven't been funded for many, many years.
Everybody has to pay their student loan back when their income passes the threshold; your parents' income doesn't affect this in any way.0 -
No but it does have an effect on what is a loan and what is am grantAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
