A good tip if all is not going well .. un-plug your aerial and then do a re-tune .. this will clear everything , of course you will have no channels. Back out of the menu .. then replug your aerial back in and repeat with a fresh re-tune.

Life was so much simpler in days of analogue TV.........

My parents and in laws do find all this very confusing having various combinations of freeview, analogue, Sky, VCRs etc etc

Oh and then there are the constant pc problems.

I didnt mean it that way I was trying to be helpful, by reminding people to help some elderly and those who may be ill to help them with there retuning

I did say if as I know many dont need help but no harm in asking

I did edit my original post you quoted but obvious you have selective vision

"Can you just remind those who can do there boxes please ask neighbours who may be elderly/ill if they need help"

I do not have selective vision, my comments relate to your presumption that it is somehow only the " elderly " that cannot cope with technology, of course age isn't a defining factor in the knowledge of technology.

I did not say all elderly or include all elderly if you read my comment. I didnt mean that at all you got the wrong end of the stick. What have you added to the thread other than looking for an argument. I altered my original post to make it not look like I was trying to be funny, but you missed that

Now stop trying to make something bad when all it was was a misunderstanding

Look at the bit I highlight in red IF and ILL. That means it doesn't include all elderly

I agree with that last statement it I did not mean that all elderly can not cope with technology many Do that's why I said IF and of course age isn't always a factor that's why I said ill

I wont add any more to your comments you obviously looking for a argument

I am not looking for an argument, I just get annoyed when some people choose to select a section of the community and imply that they are somehow less capable because of their age.

My Son in Law is half my age, my Daughter is away on business, so I had to go and sort his TV out last night, speaks volumes.

Right as I said its a misunderstanding I was trying to be helpful by reminding people some find technology difficult I didnt include or mean all eldery I even said that later on

Many elderly (but not all) do find technology difficult I know several that do and I try and help out where I can but that doesnt mean all do nor does that mean is just elderly either. You misunderstood me as did one or two others that's why I corrected my previous statement.

It was not my intention to be patronizing in fact one poster said he/she didnt find my post patronizing, two others said that some elderly do find technology difficult.

I try to be helpful on this thread in several posts I did want to come and defend myself when all time I was trying to be helpful not put people down, if I was trying to be funny I wouldn't be defending myself so much. I am tired of this now, my intention was always to be helpful but now I feel sick as dog because others misunderstood my motives

I didn't misunderstand you at all, your message was very clear, there was no need whatsoever to mention the " elderly " as a section of the community that needed, or may need help.

Members of the community of any age, race, creed or colour may need help, I am not denying that, but there really is no need to segregate a section of the community out as being somehow lacking.

That is patronising, hence my original comments.

It was not patronizing you are the only one who thinks that

Jaffa "Some people find technology hard to use "
savemoney "Having worked with elderly people taking them to there homes I have often done odd quick job which some find difficult like changing light bulbs, clocks forward and back, video recorder time, batteries etc"

I used the words may, If and ill but that isnt enough shall I include all faiths, all creeds, ages will you be happy now!!!!!!

You got the wrong end of the stick but I see your motives now despite trying to be helpful and add something you come on looking for a fight

I shall not answer any more of your posts thanks very much for being unhelpful and down right argumentative. I have said all along that was not my motives you have twisted things around to suit your agenda.

Again can I spell it out for you

MY INTENTION WAS NOT TO INCLUDE ALL ELDERY MANY CAN DEAL FINE WITHOUT ANY HELP, THERE ARE SOME WHO MAY NEED HELP THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE OTHERS SECTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY.

Thanks for adding nothing to this thread other than pick holes at things and making something that isn't.

Good old political correct person you are
