  • Just going to make a quick entry before i start my day (day off)

Get up and washed and dressed straight away, no hanging round in pj's most of day.

    1 hour household chores.
walk around to mum and dads to say Hi.
go to local doctors to get OH application form
will walk to Aldi to get a few bits and bobs, i'M running short on stuff for packed lunch's but i'm not planning on spending more than £10 out of shopping purse.
gym tonight, i have been a bit slac recently and havn't been all last week, I am just starting to make some real progress now and I am running 5k about 3 times a week and my speed and times are improving each day, i still can't shift my last remaining stone though and i seem to be stuck at 10st7lbs even though i am exercising like mad..

will update on progress made later......

  • All tasks completed for today, had to buy a birthday present for SIL and managed to put something together for £8, used some stuff that I had bought for myself in M&S in the sales that I had forgotton about and then just added some wine and chocolates so I am pleased with that.

Still have a little over £20 in my weekly budget and only tommorrow to get through before my next allowence kicks in, I am hoping for a nsd and if i make it that will give me £20 to make an overpayment, can't decide weather or not to concentrate on my o/d or just try and clear my Halifax card as its only £145 now and I will at least feel I have cleared 1 card!

Had to drag myself to the gym this evening, really didn't want to go but I made myself, Ran for 35mins and completed 5k (i try and do this on most visits and I am concentrating on building up my speed to enable me to complete 5k in 30mins or under, currently I am running at 9.1kph but when i first started running i could only manage 15mins at 8.5kph so good progress is being made. The only downside is that I am eating too much, i can't seem to get focused in this area and would love to just get below 10st for once and for all but i keep losing a few pounds and they just seem to go back on straight away. need to focus now.

  • Well I didn't manage a nsd today after all, in fact quite the opposite and spent the entire £23 in my purse for which i got the following,

pair of trousers and top(discounted from work)
2 rings and pkt of bobbles from Primark
the latest eddition of one of my fave mags
£1 donation to my 'pound coin only' sealed pot.

Think I have made my budget stretch quite away this week considering I have also bought a birthday present. Its a new week tommorrow so its all good, will try harder next week to make an overpayment!

    Hey badpenny,

I've just sat and read through your diary. I seem to be very much like you, I have spurts of debt busting energy! Although mine don't seem to last long.

You seem to be doing really well though making all these overpayments (i'm so jealous!)
I use money now instead of cards as I used to lose track of how much i'd spent although my problem now is I just spend the cash instead, im my own worst enemy.

Don't beat yourself up about the loan, when you work hard it's nice to know that you have something to show for it otherwise you feel like you're only working to pay off the debts.

Oops i've managed to gab on again, sorry for hogging your diary space, carry on with the debt busting!!

  • Hey Cupcake,

Thanks for dropping by, I can definatly recomend only using cash, in fact my next step will be to totally remove my debit card from my purse. I allocate myself £5 per day as 'spends' and if I don't spend it I try and make an overpayment to one of my cards, I was on a bit of a roll before christmas with this but have got a bit side tracked lately.

i have just taken out £30 to last me untill next Fri and have managed to spend almost £10 on my way home from work, I bought another magazine (i have 2 that I buy each month), a can of deodrant, 2 chocolate bars (1 for OH) pkt of gum and then treated myself to a caramel cappachino, naughty but nice! So £10 down already. Skipped the gym tonight, too wet and cold tonight and i'm already in my pj's.

    Have a good evening!

There's nothing nicer than a nice hot coffee on a cold day is there! I actually bought a Dolce Gusto coffee machine but I still love buying a Starbucks or Costa.

This is possibly (well probably) a really stupid question but when you don't spend the £5 how do you get it onto your card? Do you take the cash into the bank or do you take it from your next weeks allowance?
Sorry if thats a silly question,

Also I have another question if you dont mind. What sort of things do you sell on Ebay? Everyone always seem to have something to sell but I can never think of anything.

  • hi,

To make overpayments you need to set up online banking then I try and just transfer over cash to my cc's. I try and take out £10 of my weekly budget to live on and then can usually pay around £10-£20 each week to my cc's. To be honest I need to get back into this properly as i seem to be spending loads lately on nothing.

On E-bay I find that clothes/shoes/bags sell quite well if they are from decent high street stores, eg-next,river island, topshop ect. I don't tend to bother with books, dvds but have heard that these do quite well on amazon. Again this is something i need to do as i've got tons!

Hope this answers your questions, give me a shout if not!

  • I've been very good this week, 3 nsd's in a row. I've kept on top of my money and direct debits. Slightly overspent when I went food shopping on Monday but I still have £50 in food budget to last me 2 weeks and have really only got to buy lunch stuff and milk, bread, fruit as I have enough breakfast and dinner stuff. I don't want to speak too soon but paying cash for everything has really helped me this month and I am hoping that I will have some cash left from food budget at end of month for a change!

  • I have realised that I'm now addicted to grocery shopping, it has become my new addiction because I feel that I can justify it! I have just blown the last of my shopping budget for the month plus £20 of my own cash! Luckly I know I have enough food for the rest of the month but I need to sort this out next month.

Off to the cinema tonight with OH. We have a gift card from christmas so will not cost anything. Just need to stay away from the pick n mix!.

On a positive note I have lost 5lbs since Monday, just by cutting out snacks, watching my portion sizes, eating more fruit and veg and no alcohol. Have been to the gym 3 times as well and I am slowly managing to increase my running speed. I'm now up to 9.3kph and can run for around 35 minutes. Last night I ran at 10kph for 12mins but I was knackerd at the end of it. My gym has just started Zumba classes which I may give a try this week for a bit of variety.

    Hey BP

Just read through your diary, well done on your achievements so far. Its great to read you go from making excuses about the gym to getting into the swing of it and enjoying it.

Hope you enjoyed the cinema. I went to see Gnomeo and Juliet yesterday and it was awful!
