  • Morning!!:j. WOOP WOOP! Pay day tommorrow, Ive just checked my account and dd's have come out as expected and I have £14.09 left of my overdraft. Cupboards are not too empty still have stuff, its freezer and fridge contents that i'm struggling with but i'll be ok. Just debating weather to have the onion bagel with some phillidelphia cheese on for breakfast or save that for lunch and have some porridge for breakfast. tonights meal will be sausage on toast with 1 fried egg for oh and chilli and rice for me. Found some frying steak in the freezer and have some peppers, onions and garlic so will make some sort of cassarole tommorrow with mashed potatoes and then i will do a shop on Saturday. Freezer could do with defrosting before i fill it up again tho so might do this on Saturday morning. I've never defrosted a freezer before! Do I just empty it and turn it off???????

Weight loss update! I don't know if I mentioned that I have started running on the treadmill at the gym about 3 weeks ago and i'm up to 25-30 mins at a time (aprox 4k) and i've been doing this 2-3 times a week. Anyway I jumped on the scales this morning and i've lost another 3lbs! When I started going to the gym I weighed 11st 11lbs and i'm now 10st 4lbs so that is 1st 7lbs since april. All without really dieting just reducing portion sizes and not being greedy. So So pleased! My Target is to now get below the 10st mark and would like to do this by the end of Nov ideally.

I've decided that i would like to try and do some crafting as a little hobby, my days off at the moment seem to just be about cleaning the house and going to the gym so i want to get something started, my problem is i'm a very impatiant person by nature and tend to give up at the 1st hurdle on anything that goes wrong so i'm not sure I am the right person to start crafting but I'm going to give it a go. The 1st thing I want to make is some christmas bunting made from felt or some xmas decorations! I also made a headboard for my bed out of some mdf and a sheet of foam about 4 years ago that needs tweeking before it can be fitted so i'm going to try and get this finished next week while i'm off.

    Sorry for the loooong post!

  • Right thats it I am free for 10 whole days and i've just been paid:j.
Going to spend tonight going over my financial strategy for Nov. (what an exciting life I lead). I am very disapointed that i havn't had my latest cc bills though, every day I wait for the postman like its my birthday or something!!!

Not quite a nsd day today £3.80 on bus fares and £4.00 on lunch. Couldn't stretch fridge contents to make lunch today so decided to treat myself.

  • I am still awaiting 1 cc statment from citi bank and then I can work out my totals for last month. At a rough estimate this morning it Looks like £500 has come off my Signature for last month (this includes min payments ect to my other cards 1 of which is 0% and 1 is 8% but i pay nearly £200 to these cards so the majority of ths payment is coming straight off the balence) so as soon as i get my statment i can update my sig. My aim is to clear my Halifax card by Dec 31st the balence is only £197 but its 23.9% so I want it gone and then I can start the new year with just 3 cards. Just made an overpayment of £50 to this so I reckon on paying another £50 to this by the end of the month.

Very Annoyed yesterday. I opened my post to find a brand new credit card from a company calld OPUS that I havn't asked for. It has a limit of £2k and an apr of 30.5%. Talk about putting temptation in peoples way! Anyway I rang the customer service number to complain/cancel only to be told by an automated message that the number isn't availible until 21st Nov! !!!!!!! I AM FUMING! HOW CAN THEY JUST SEND RANDOM CARDS OUT TO PEOPLE.

  • Had a busyish day yesterday, decided to tackle the rubbish dump that is curently my spare bedroom. I have dumped all the stuff in there that didn't sell at my last car boot sale and I have decided to take it all to the charity shop. I can't keep that spare room in that state so it all has to go. Have 5 bin bags left to take today. I have also sorted out all my paperwork/documents and filed them away in a new folder. Today i'm gona sort out my desk and decide if I want to keep it. Then I'm gonna find a local window cleaner to come and clean windows, cancelled the last one as oh said he could do a better job, needless to say he has yet to climb the ladder!!. Then I really need my hair cutting but i'm just going to get a trim and do the coulour myself!

If you google OPUS, they have taken over some Citicard accounts, did you have one of them?

thanks gil, yes i do have a citi cc, that may explain why I havn't had a statement from them this month, will have to look into this today.

I've been awol for the best part of a week, OH has been decorating the hall so I have been trying to stay out of the house and out of his way. Good news though the decorating should be finished by Weds and I have my carpet and flooring getting fitted on Sat:j. This decorating project was started in Jan 08 (i know cos I wrote my name and date on the bare wall after i'd stripped it) and OH has just been putting off getting it finished so now it is almost complete I am ecstatic. Also paid for my carpet with real cash. 1st time i've ever made a big purchase and not reached for my cc.

Sorted out my car insurance yesterday and managed to save £200 and also got some breakdown cover into the bargin. Have made a start on my xmas shopping also and have only got 3 presents to get now. Again paid for in cash!!.

Nagative's have gained 2lbs so I am back up to 10st 7lbs:mad:. Good job i'm back at work tommorrow. Goal for this week is to loose 3lbs.

  • Very quick update, carpet and flooring is now fitted and looks great. Very skint now though and still got over a week untill I get paid again. I havn't managed to make any more additional overpayments this month but i'm consoling myself with the thought that I havn't used my credit card for ages. Will need to look at how i'm going to get through untill next Friday with aprox £10. I have decided that my New years Resolution for 2011 is to get my food shopping under budget each month as this is still a big overspend every month.

  • Well done on getting your stuff done without resorting to using cc's. That's half the battle really, you may not be able to make big overpayments, but you aren't increasing your debt.

I'm sure if you look round your cupboards and plan well, you've got enough food to see you through, it just depends what else you need to buy really.

  • Hello,

Need to get my diary back on track, once again I have been negleting it and I am loosing controll of my fianances. Have managed to do xmas presents without using any cc's but I have increased my o/d by £50 so all in all not too bad yet! The thing that is worrying me the most tho is my gas bill that is due in Jan. Had a letter yesterday from n-power saying they are increasing their prices by 5% in Jan and this will be my big winter bill and the heating has been on pretty much 24/7 since Oct:mad:.

  • Well done on not using the cc's over Christmas, its a step in the right direction, at least you're not increasing your debt.

Hope your Christmas has been a good one.
