    To expand on what Chippy Minton said..

    start > run > command
    ipconfig /all

    and post the results here... (the results of the ipconfig /all)

    so we can see if you're getting an IP address from the router.

    Is there no Default Gateway, DHCP Server or DNS Servers listed? also from the PC do you have access to the internal belkin webpage? you type something like 192.168.2.1 (or is it 0) from the webpage, it then shows what pcs it is picking up

    You need the same on the PC as the laptops default gateway and DNS address. so try going to the connection (start, connect to, select connection), click properties, on general select Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) and click properties. select the 'Use the following IP address' and IP address as per ipcoonfig /all from PC and default gateway and DNS (subnet should fill itsself in) as per laptop. press ok, and ok again, and check ipconfig /all on PC to see if its changed.

    no no no!! it won't work.. The router is giving IP's from the 192.168.2 range
    Router = 192.168.2.1
    Laptop = 192.168.2.2 (probably)

    The PC's IP address isn't being picked up from the router but somewhere else.
