  • Katy - had you actually worked out that the amount you spent in M&S only averages out at £4.50 per person you're feeding? Allowing for the fact that the friends who are staying are presumably going to be having at least Breakfast and evening meals for at least two days, I would have said that was pretty reasonable! As you say, the plus points are that you knew the money was there to cover the spend, that you didn't resort to sticking it on the CC to worry about later, and it's far, far less than you would have spent if you'd gone out to eat!

Above all, have a wonderful weekend and enjoy spending time with good friends, whatever you do!

Thanks for that EH, when you think about it like that it doesn't seem too bad a spend at all. Especially when I managed to get OH to buy lunch!:D

Haven’t managed to make it on for a few days, I’m feeling like I’ve missed out on something. Can’t believe what a big part of my life MSE has become!

The weekend with my friends was lovely, we had such a fantastic time. I managed to make the food last all weekend and EH, you were right, it did save a fotune compared to eating out. I was a bit gutted though, I roasted a chicken as per the length of time on the packet and then did an extra 20 minutes as well. Left it to cool and put it in the freezer for Sunday but when I came to carve it, it was really pink and bloody in places. Don’t really understand why but it went straight in the bin and I sent OH to morrisons for some quiche instead. Nobody was any the wiser thankfully as I didn’t let on that chicken was what I had planned!

Surprisingly I have also managed to meet my November NSD target of 14, which I am quite stunned about because I didn’t think I had a chance. I was kind of helped by running out of cash on Friday (all bar £20 anyway) and OH offering to buy lunch out on Saturday. Apart from that I just made a big effort to use everything up that was in the freezer and fridge...and it worked! I’m going for 12 in December, what with it being xmas and me not having done a pick of shopping so far...

I’m back to feeling exhausted again today and I’m hoping it isn’t OH’s lurgy caught up with me. It is TOTM though and I’ve had a busy weekend and I’m off the super strength iron tablets so it could be any combination of things. Don’t think I am going to push it though and I might give my riding lesson a miss tonight and have an early night instead. Quite fancy curling up in my joggers with a book for a change.

The other big news is that I handed my notice in this morning! I’m really pleased that it is done as I felt so nervous about it. My boss was really good about it though, wished me congratulations and everything. Hoping to hear from HR at some point in the next few days to find out how much leave I have left and what will be my last day. I’m hoping for Christmas eve...meaning I’ll get a nice break before I start the new job.

Am leaving at 4 pm today, just feel so tired that I am not being much use here at the moment anyway. Going to pop and visit my sister on the way home and then chill out with that book...bliss!

Thanks LT, the word is well and truly out now...I keep getting phone calls and people stopping to ask me where I am going. I'm not saying too much about it though, don't really like being the centre of attention.

Managed to get quite a good nights sleep last night so I'm feeling a bit better today. Was definitely a bit flu-ey yesterday evening so I curled up with lots of layers on and a hot water bottle under the duvet, seems to have worked thankfully. Don't think the TOTM helps either, seems to just totally drain my energy.

My tenants haven't paid my rent yet which is a bit annoying  am going to wait till the end of today to see if it goes in and if not I'll give them a call tonight. Thankfully the mortgage payment doesn't go out till the 19th but still, it would be comforting if it was in my account.

Not much else to report on the DFW front really, will make a PAD when the rent goes in...am keeping it a smaller one this month because I need new work clothes and it is Christmas. I'll make it up in January though by paying extra. Quite looking forward to actually getting to go shopping too!

hope the rent goes in before the end of the day and you don't have to start chasing people.
I should be able to do pad's this month as i'm not starting from a negative position, i think my problem is i need to get the money transfered over as soon as i have it so i don't spend it.

Definitely a good idea LT, I'm trying to do the same. Otherwise it is too tempting to spend what is there, especially at this time of year!

  • Did the rent get paid Ok in the end? Might be worth asking the tenants to set up a regular arrangement or standing order to pay it on the due day each month just for peace of mind.

Glad the weekend went well - and well done also on the NSD target!

I bet after all the stressing about it it was an utter relief to give your notice in, wasn't it!

i've just spent what feels like a fortune finishing chrissy pressies online, but 2 out of 3 shops was via quidco. I will not spend more money, i have everyone's pressies now!
