  • I've been MIA but am now on Mat Leave so have no excuse. Please can you put me down for £120 for October as I've just done a big shop and have a very full freezer so hopefully won't need another proper shop for a while!

Hi, I'm going to try for £80 this month.November will be an expensive month for me so need to save as much as possible.
This will be helped by the only shop in our town closing for a week so they can have a re-fit:mad::mad::mad:

I had the Whoopsie timings down to perfection - and the staff were used to finding me looking over their shoulders at both the second (lunch time) and third (evening) reductions, having seen me there early morning checking out what might be available later on from the pre-opening reductions. Rarely bought anything until after the second, and often nothing until the final reduction ;)

WOW that is true dedication -I salute you cw18! :T

JackieO - thanks for the encouragement!!!
I could not agree more regarding going to the supermarket and buying things that one does not need 'just because they're on offer' (I call it sleep-shopping!). I have to put my hands up and admit I have done that a lot. The problem with sleep-shopping as far as I am concerned is not only the waste of money (crucial as it is), but the fact that if I return home with more than I needed/planned/actually wanted I feel rather upset! I feel as if the supermarket just brainwashed me into their submission.... and that's not a nice way to feel. I should know better than to fall for the supermarkets' tricks.... when I think about it, they're not even particularly clever tricks (using eye-level shelves, strategical positioning of offers....). I really should know better, and yet...... and yet.....

So there, my strategy here is damage limitation: I intend to keep to a minimum the trips to those supermarkets which are better able to brainwash me. I shouldn't have used the plural here because there is only one supermarket that manages to disintegrate my defences each and every time.... and that's the one beginning with T. I don't know how they do it... I'm not even that keen on their products and yet if there is one supermarket that is guaranteed to make me spend more than needed this is MrT.

Having worked that out, I decided that swapping Mr T for Mr W instead for my regular shopping (and using Mr T only as a 'top-up' on essentials to get clubcard points). I understand W is more expensive but in my case I think it's worthwhile to bite the bullet as it may work out cheaper in the end.

Doh sorry for long post.... bit of a rant really... sorry :o
