I don't know what to do

A new exciting career has gone horribly wrong and I'm so upset.
Its so ridiculous its like a soap opera and I'm destroying myself over it. I don't know who to call to ask for help and I don't think anyone can except to just walk away and stuff up my partner's and my life up totally. We've just got ourselves sorted financially after a real mess so can't be out of work, but I'm so unhappy its now affecting my relationship wit my partner as I feel so low. Its like someones stuck a big pin in me leaving me totally deflated.

I posted on here a few days ago, but there was too much info and I couldn't bear for family and friends to know whats going on so I deleted it.

Not sure why even writing this but on the hope that somehow I can get help somewhere before I sink any further.

why did it go wrong if you dont mind me asking.you need to stop dwelling on whats gone wrong and stop destroying your relationship with partner.can you not begin again, reapply.sorry dont mean to sound harsh
:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:
  • I've been working for a company for 3 month, first permanent new job for years, been displaced 3 times already where positions have disappeared due to re-org. Now been sat in a post for a month, dumped in the corner, where there is no work to do. There is nothing to do, raising the problem gets me nowhere. Line manager is lovely but can't help due to the nature of where I work (typo). I'm just sat day after day doing nothing and I'm finding it demoralising and depressing.

Sounds like my job:rolleyes: It is hard but you kinda have to distract yourself to keep your sanity.....I tend to come on here once I've exhausted all other possibilities:o
Ask around the office and see if someones got too much work or just needs a hand with anything, even if it's typing a letter/filing it's better than staring into space:) You'll find that people will start to think of you/utilise you when they need help:) Its hard to suggest things without knowing the field you work in, is there any chance to make work for yourself??
As I said I don't know the nature of your work but I work in Admin and if I have nothing to do then I ask around but chances are if I've no work it's because nobody in the office has work to pass to me:rolleyes: Its a sign of the times for the business I workin I'm afraid!
I tend to tidy out the stationary cupboard at least once a week/try and clear an unused desk(they get used as dumping grounds:rolleyes:) .

HTH and if not, sorry I've rambled:o:o x

It's a job, they pay you . Stick at it. They will probably find you some work to do once they realise what is happening.
Meanwhile look for something else but don't give up the paypacket untill there's another one available.

Life isn't always fun but it is expensive.

Find some nice things to do after work to cheer you up and think of all the other people who are desperate to find a job, anything to pay the bills.

  • unfortunately I am an admin for a group of manual workers in the transport industry, and there really is nothing they can give me as everything they use in the office you have to have specific access and training to which I can't have which is just stupid. I don't even care what they give me, just want some work rather than dmped in the corner and ignored. there is no work for a made up position because they don't know what to do with it.
I just feel like walking away from everything right now and I'm appaulled I'm allowing this situation to affect me so badly.

    Debt-free and Proud!
What about starting to do some sort of studying when you are quiet at work? Is there anything you are interested in or would like to learn? Maybe see if you can find some sort of internet-based course?

  • they know whats happening but I've now found that their solution is to ignore and hope the problem goes away which with how I'm feeling will probably happen.

    not an option unfortunately.

the thing is I'm not stupid, am usually quite confident but this has taken the wind out of me, I left retail management for something more office based and was so excited after 2 yrs temping for one department of transport to get this in another transport area.
  • There is light at the end of the tunnel:) Use this time to find out what courses are available to you provided by work or funded by yourself, I've already done 3 different admin courses in my job and I've only been here 10 months:D Admittedly they were refresher courses but it gave me something to do. If you don't have 1st aid, ask your employers about sending you on a course.
Honestly there is stuff to do, you just have to be creative about it:) This lot know when I'm relaly bored coz thats when the duster comes out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi, I would seriously think about the study option, do you have net access at your desk, do they have any training manuals. In my last job we had at least two days a week of doing nothing. The courses I completed online (some very small and seemingly insignificant) have helped me get to the job I have now and stopped my boredom.

    Good luck hunny.
