crisis loan help!!!!

You could apply for a community care grant from the Social Fund, put down all your circumstances as you have done here and see what they say, just don't expect the world as their budget is very limited.
I agree with what people are saying about Freecycle but try the Salvation Army or St Vincent de Pauls as well. As a aside there have been the same pair of baby buggies outside my local charity shop with a "free" sign on them for the last two weeks. All they need is a little bit of a clean and they would be fine, seems no one wants themThe World come on.....0 -
All these years of paying tax and NI when iwant help i cant have it...but people that have never worked get it handed on a plate what is this country coming to its a joke!!
But you are getting help now - you're getting IS and, presumably, the rent and council tax paid for. If you had received a crisis loan you'd have to pay it back out of benefits so you may be better this way.
As has been said, there's lots available of things available through Freecycle and the other organisations that have been mentioned.
Edit: Are you saying that you've had both the grants (totalling £690) and blown the lot already?0 -
Is it just me, or does anyone else get the impression from the OP that what she really wants is a pocket full of free money to get her flat furnished - she is showing little or no interest in Freecycle or the other options open to her.
OP - stop whinging, you haven't got time, you have a baby on the way. Start scouring Freecycle & contacting local charities and/or Church organisations. You cannot afford to be picky now.
Time to step up to the plate and provide for your family. The tax payer are paying for your home/council tax etc. The least you can do it furnish it.
i dont want a pocket load of cash at all!!! just enough for me and my baby to get along with..
as for the free cycle comment iam already registerd with this and am in the process of contacting a load of charities.
actually the tax payer has not paid for my home my dad has paid deposit and rent so far as i cant get help from the council untill my baby is born..
i do apologise if thats what people think of me.. i am simply a 22 year old with a baby on the way which is scary enough when iam on my own and all i simply wanted was some helpful advice, thank you to the people that have given it to me and i have taken on boad what you have said.
I now feel worse then i did before so thanks to the people that have made me feel like rubbish why come on here to say stuff like that. If you dont want to give advice then dont, but its out of order to just come on here and say stuff about people like that when really they dont have a clue about that person.0 -
Sorry - I haven't read all of the thread but in any case...
You do not NEED to have been on benefits for more than 26 weeks to apply for a Crisis Loan. That criteria is applicable to budgeting loans only. You don't need to be in reciept of benefit AT ALL to apply for a Crisis Loan.
Also not getting help from the council until the baby is born is rubbish. (I assume you mean help with the rent/council tax) - if you have no Income, or your only income is from income based DWP benefit then you are entitled to housing benefit/LHA and council tax benefit. Nothing to do with whether baby is born yet or not.0 -
If you've been forced to move out due to overcrowding in the family home you may be eligible for a Community Care Grant.
I'd apply on that basis as the DM will also consider a crisis loan if you don't meet the CCG eligibility from one application.
You'll only get basic items on either award though (bed, sofa, possibly carpets and curtains depending on whats there currently, crockery, pots and pans and bedding and thats about it).Who's going to fly your plane? / When you need to make your getaway....0 -
You can hardly say this:I am 22 have nothing what am i suppose to do! I dont understand how i cant have it cos i aint been on benifits long enough???? what planet r these people on...so if i had been a bum and not worked for the last few years i cant have a crisis loan......
makes me bloody laugh!!!
And then confirm that you have, in fact, had quite a lot of money given to you.....yes had the grants but that has had to pay for all my babies stuff
That is a LOT of money you have wasted. Babies 'stuff' doesn't cost £690. Perhaps you should have planned ahead.
Now though, you need to start looking to furnish your home with handouts and freebies.i dont want a pocket load of cash at all!!! just enough for me and my baby to get along with.
That is exactly what you want - it is the reason you applied for yet another loan/grant.0 -

I just said if you have nothing better to do then please stop taking quotes and criticising everything i say......................
helpful advice only please ..............................i have just managed to get a washing machine from the freecycle website so thank you to the people that helped with that.0 -
Are any of your baby purchases still packaged? Would it be possible to return any and find cheaper alternatives? £690 is more than enough, and there should be plenty lef over for essentials.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

I do think that you have been given a lot of good advice on how you can get items for your new flat for free or at a reduced cost and it is good to see that you are exploring these avenues. You mentioned that your new flat has nothing except a cooker so I hope that you have made a list of the essentials that you need for when you move?
I would hope that your father would be able to help you out with some of the smaller items that you would need, by giving or loaning you items from his own household.
I will admit I have no idea how Crisis Loans work but would have expected that they would not just give you blank cheque so how much did you ask for or hope to get off them?
Unfortunately if you post on a forum asking for advice you are likely to get both positive and negative comments and I would not let it upset you. I have looked at some of your other posts where you mention how much of a struggle it is to live on JSA when the £100 a fortnight does not even cover your credit card bills - So please remember there are people here who have to go out to work to buy the things that they need.0 -
Hi,
Pleased don't get stressed...... firstly apply for a community care grant..... my daughter was in a similar situation to yourself and we had no room for a baby and she received help via a CC grant and a local charity. If you need any help with the form you can always Private Message me.
Take care and good luck.Sue :j0
