I hope you enjoy your holiday. You certainly got a flea in your ear from some users just because you asked a question!! Your experience has encouraged me to avoid the high street. They'll end up without a job as they are being priced out of the market.

Which will encourage the further spread of 'Poundland'.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.

    you cant beat poundland:rolleyes:

tunisia is cheap once you get there though so make the most of your holiday, this time of year is great as not as hot as august but still hot enough:T

The transfers or airport parking/Manchester hotel are not included in the webprice - but these are itemised in our receipt from today.

What you need to do first is price up what it will cost you to book the transfers, airport parking and Manchester hotel and then deduct that from the £600 difference. That will make it like for like comparison.
Here I go again on my own....

If used correctly the high street and the internet complement each other nicely ie the print off for Gran Canaria, its just unfortunate that the poster was talked into tunisia and didnt have that relevant info from the net, quite often we find that Thomas Cook shops have better prices than their own internet site.
Not all Travel Agents are out to rip you off some of the comments are very unfair, alot of the posters on here are in the travel industry and give their time and advice for free.
Barrhead travel i've never heard of i presume they're a small independent t/agent which just wouldnt be able to price match the Direct price as i said previously even a thomas cook shop cant match prices like those. Unfortunately its just how it happens sometimes. Yes £600 is a lot of money but how does it breakdown, how many people how many nights etc.
Cant remember who posted it now, yes Teletext do have cheap prices but they arent a live system, realistically how many people have rung them and actually got the price that is advertised and how many people do we have on here that complain about On the beach because they've asked for more money than the original quote.
And i'll tell you what really gets on your nerves is the customer that books their holiday on the net, then when they have a problem go into their relevant high street agent and expect them to sort it for nothing.

Yes prices do go up, thats life. Live with it. but enjoy your hols.

It would be sensible though to check your confirmation invoice which Thomas Cook have issued to you as this should show the cost of the travel arrangements. If that document has not been provided to you there may be some info being witheld.

If you do have their invoice with the price then thats that. The price is determined by the Tour Op and not Barhead Travel.

Thats assuming that they are the agent and Thomas Cook is the Tour Operator.

Would be interested in reply on this once you check your paperwork :)
  • All well and good until the airline pulls your flight and your hotel and car hire are interested as it's not their problem.

For some people it's not that easy

You can insure against all that.

Surely worse if you lose the lot. More tour opps go bust than airlines.

Having previously been the victim of a tour opp going bust, I can confirm that ABTA and ATOL were of no use at all, my credit card provided the refund otherwise Id have went nowhere that year.

I just get the feeling "endemoniada" has been hard sold + missold this holiday. How else can you go in to TAs asking for Gran Canaria + come out with an over priced Tunisia ?

I too would love to support local business, but when you are rattled for an extra £300pp and that level of service who cares if they go down the pan!
  • I think people on here are probably getting snippy about replying is that people scream rip off at every oportunity even when they have not been ripped off. IMO the original poster should not be checking prices after they have booked at a price they were happy with, if they wanted to do that they should have walked away and done that and then booked.

She wasn't checking prices! She was looking up the hotel they boooked her with. We all like to know WHERE we are staying. I don't know anyone who doesn't check up on the hotel they are staying at.

  • How do you get a price without putting dates in and where you are flying from, She had to do something to generate a price.

I prefer to check out hotel though before booking not after.Personally i would never go to a high street TA and book a holiday not knowing where the heck i was really going or anything about the hotel no matter what spiel the TA gives me.
Even if i was really busy and pushed for time i would make time to research options before booking.
