    Only because of the recession.

It appears some people get off on graduates doing low level jobs, are you one of them?
Not at all, I'm just being realistic. I just don't think it's the right time be getting uppity about yourself. Assuming that you'll come out of university straight into a trainee manager's role is daft!

Of course. Graduates fall into the catch 22 situation with having some form of qualification and having no experience.

I feel guilty about my post now towards you. Sorry.

for goodness sake people, it was a typo my definition of typo is when you make a mistake and know the difference between want and wont (note I took out the ') I don't mind conceding I made a mistake with the apostrophe but I will not concede the want and wont.
I look silly a lot of the time, but I am big enough to admit it, OK want to attack me again?.... go ahead.

How likely is it that a store that's very, very busy - according to the OP - would put a student on the tills after 1 day's induction and little opportunity to take up references ?

Very likely judging by my local poundland

You choose to, nobody makes you work there.

Yes I did choose to work there, would far rather that than be unemployed!
And the bills make me work there lol

I love my job... just saying a degree does not automatically mean you will get a brilliant job in todays world

I am glad you enjoy it, did you go in at a higher level as a trainee manager?

Nope at ground level (crew member)
Due to my good work ethic and attitude as well as being highly competent at my job though I am being fast tracked through the ladder there and am made to feel appreciated every day which makes a huge difference.

May not be the best job in the world but a job is a job and I have prospects there- figure I can climb the ladder and with experience enter another profession at a (hopefully) higher level

S'ok! It seems it gets quite heated on here! And you're right, that's why I think it's best to try and keep a job and not walk out of it at the first hurdle.
