Iceland - Discusting! WARNING

I don't think there is anything "snobby" complaining about food being rendered "unsafe" as a result of thawing\ refreezing or in particular "rotten".
True there might be some folk who don't put products back where they belong, I never have, but I don't think that's a good enough excuse for any store leaving frozen foods to thaw out OR placing rotten food out for sale. That is just a weak shot at trying to "pass the buck" IMHO.
Iceland may well be a good company, but in my case they weren't that good, else I would not have had a rotten chicken in my basket (I didn't pick it off the tinned food aisle).
As with any store, mistakes may happen, fact is they SHOULDN'T, even moreso where there's a risk of contamination or cross contamination. I wouldn't buy cooked meats that were stored with raw meat on the same principle.
When a customer buys meat that is listed as "within" date from a supermarket, they automatically assume that meat is safe to eat, its called "consumer trust".
You cannot tell me that some fairy re-packaged a rotten chicken (not a frozen one) with a valid sell by date, or that the store mistakenly changed the date on the meat, these things just couldn't happen, if they do that tells me that something is seriously wrong, much more than any simple "mistake" once in a while.
Mistake's DO happen, in any business, from finances to wrong addresses, but for example mistakenly sending out a used or returned 48" LCD television instead of the brand new one ordered, would rate slightly differently than "oops - it was a mistake".
I wouldn't call a customer "snobby" for pointing it out either.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I thought you said in the first post you had already complained... Sorry if I have mis-understood it. (edit - Just realised you will have complained to head office and not the store)
I am surprised however if you believe you're friend and you have experience of the rotten chicken that you're still going to shop there. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00
