Iceland - Discusting! WARNING

Just letting everyone know that there have been a couple of things i have found with Iceland.
Most recently i purchased a bag of Diced Frozen Chicken that was already cooked and just ready to be added to the pan to go with my curries. Anyway i've never had a issue with this particular item from there but i opened the bag and got the most discusting wiff of rotten chicken!! It smelt as if the chicken had been defrosted and left in heat.. then refrosted, it was enough to make me retch! The use by date is for 28th September 2010!!!
Following this problem i contacted Iceland and they send me a £5 voucher? I had a friend who worked there for quite a few years and she later told me without me even explaining this issue above that they leave things out of freezers for hours till nearly defrosted out of pure laziness?! She said they leave it to go like that then re-freeze which backs up my stinky rotten chicken claim and other things that have been off before there use by date!
As far as i'm concerned its a very dodgy thing! If i had of fed this to my family we could of ended up with all kinds of illness with dodgy chicken :lipsrseal

my god rachie - glad i dont shop at iceland. this is unbelievable! having worked at somerfields I know the when having to restock freezer area i was sometimes a bit shocked that so much frozen stuff was put in the cages ready to go out to shop floor but it was always still frozen when put in freezers as staff worked so fast. to avoid frostbite i think!!!0

I shop at Iceland, and I've never had a problem. If anything was really hazardous to health, I'd probably notice it when eating.
And OP, you didn't say anything when your friend told you she was too lazy to care for people's health/she allowed other people to be too lazy to care for other people's health by not intervening? I'd have told her exactly what I thought, friend or not.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I once found a couple of tubs of potato salad in their fridges that were more than 6 months past their 'Use By' date. If I buy anything in Iceland these days I check the dates VERY carefully.Stompa0

Can I just point out that I used to work for the Iceland group and regularly worked at their main offices over in Deeside and I have never known them leave things out until they have nearly de-frosted then frozen them again.
I no longer work for the group but I will stick up for them on this matter. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -

By the way i'm not saying the OP is wrong I just thought I would put my view forward that I haven't heard of that happening. Especially as I worked closely with the customer care department who get these complaints. But I suppose it could happen in some stores and not enough people complain about it.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00
