    Hi again stas,

Just to say I'm chuffed you've made the right decision. You seem really sensible and with all the excitement anyone could be forgiven for getting caught up in the moment planning for the big day! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time when you go.

Congrats again, enjoy all the planning (but try to keep your head out of the clouds!) and have a lovely dinner tonight!

aahhhh thanks and yes usually I'm usually very sensible :T

As for the planning, the kids have lots of ideas ;) although I'm not sure if walking down the aisle (civil ceremony) to Nirvana teen spirit just because "it would be well funny mum" is the best of ideas.... :rotfl:

I've never been myself but my friend swears by January for a Disney world visit.

She has been twice at that time and says it is cheaper to go, hardly any queuing, not too hot, but hot enough to use the relatively empty water parks.

You could do Christmas but I'm guessing his mum would have objections to that?

What about New Year into January? Or, have your Christmas over there, but a bit later?

Noooooo! There are often module exams (which count towards GCSE or A Level) in January. Revision........:p

I know this might sound a little extreme however if you were to take the kids out of school (I know you said your not now) but the school may have issues with you doing that and take you to court.
I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!

    Hmm, good point!

Maybe you'd want to check that out OP.

He will, of course revise on holiday though, like all good teens do! :D

You really need to check this before you sort anything. Any pupil in year 10 or 11 is likely to have exams at some point through the year as well as at the end. Our year 10's have science exams in November, January and June as well as January and June in year 11 and thats just one subject !which is why we don't allow any time off for hols (other than normal school hols) during these two years. It may be that module exams can be redone at another point but definiatly find out for certain first and then at least you know the score.
  • mines not quite the same problem as yours, as i mucked up and booked the holiday off preliminary dates and then they were moved.
i booked on the 28th june and have recently found she has an exam that day, she does the exam in january the june one is a resit.
anyway i got in touch with school and she said the school does have a concession for this but doesn't like to advertise it as they don't condone going on holiday in school time.
i messed up so if i have to pay i will.

if anyone is thinking of booking for hols next year and there is exams , i would leave it till july to be safe.

Yes ther is a good time......during the school holidays.

The october break is quiet in disneyland , weather still good and schools are off.

The OP isn't going to Disneyland she's going to Walt Disney World

WDW isn't quiet in October either as there are hordes of Brits there along with the locals and Americans with below school age children who wouldn't dream of going in the July August heat and humidity.

January can be chilly by Florida standards but we found it was more than compensated for by no lines whatsoever.
