Question about missing Gcse Exams for holiday

We're all very fair skinned and have been to Florida twice, for a month both times. We used to have a lazy morning, leaving the villa at lunchtime. We'd have a long lunch before heading to a park for 3ish. On arriving we would do some of the indoor attractions. There is a lot of shade in the parks anyway with trees etc especially when queuing.
Like the other poster, we would then stay in the park until close.
If it was me, I would go the last 2 weeks of term as it will be mainly winding down activities then.

You should bear this in mind before relying on her advice.
Eh????? They were the second post in the thread so replying to the OP's post. What's the problem?
I looked at your other posts to see what you were on about and you seem to be stalking victory so I guess there's a history there. Takes all sorts I suppose.
OP congratulations! You've made the right decision to not disrupt your childrens schooling. I hope you all have a wonderful honeymoon whenever you manage to take it.0 -
The wedding will be at the weekend so no school will be missed, so no problem there
I'm sorry, is it just me; but how can a child revise for important exams with his family fussing and bothering about a wedding at the same time; Yes no actual school will be missed but surely he needs a quiet time at home to relax and revise properly?0 -
I am at the stage with GCSE s and A levels in our family that I have to plan around exams, preparation for exams and of course results day. It isn't easy. We go away at Easter every year to be safe. If I was really going to treat the children I would plan it for the end of the exams or after results day when they can finally relax and there is lots to celebrate.
Congratulations on your engagement!

Congratulations, stas.
I think you knew what the answers to your post would be. You mention getting married in May 2011. Are you saving for an enormous, lavish do?
Why not get married sooner, when exams are not likely to be a problem for the children? You could have a lovely day without waiting so long.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Theres another compromise here that has not been mentioned. You say you want to go for three weeks to Disney with one week crossing over with the school term so why not reduce the holiday to two weeks? Then you can still honeymoon and have the vacation just not in the week of the term for your son. Would that work? Two weeks in Florida is ample especially if it's two weeks or nothing. Congrats, by the way.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

He lives with his mum so is out of the picture for most of it so revising shouldn't be a problem

By no means a lavish affair lol we are hiring a yha near us so all our families & friends can stay with us for the weekend, growing all my own flowers and on the look out for a dress going cheap....... Infact Disney will cost a lot more than the wedding
:j We are very family orientated and want all our neices/nephews there, think bouncy castles and lots of relaxed fun......
My little brother gets married next year and I wouldn't want to take anything away from their special moment...... hence waiting till 2011.....
I think we have decided to maybe do 2 weeks in October, one of which will be the school holidays..... much more sensible, lost my head in the excitement for a while there
Also a big thank you to everyone for all your congratulations :T We are all very happy (especially me) and us and the boys are having a little celebration dinner tonight!0 -
I've never been myself but my friend swears by January for a Disney world visit.
She has been twice at that time and says it is cheaper to go, hardly any queuing, not too hot, but hot enough to use the relatively empty water parks.
You could do Christmas but I'm guessing his mum would have objections to that?
What about New Year into January? Or, have your Christmas over there, but a bit later?0
