Your husband has no business working in the financial sector if he can't control his own finances. Seems to me you have to go bankrupt and start again, not sure the TA will accept you with those debts, the Army certainly wouldn't.
Sorry no sympathy from me.0 -
Ok im sorry about my comments about the animals. I dont want to upset you thats the last thing I want to do. One extra thought, have you tried doing an electricity meter reading? I am with SWALEC and they phoned me and asked me for a meter reading and I discovered that I was over £500 in credit. Within a week £480 had been refunded into my bank account. SWALEC then reduced the monthly amount I was paying by dd. So it might be that if youre paying by DD, you might be owed some money. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Angela- the debts were due to uncontrollable circumstances- which you don't know about- anyone can fall on bad time sno matter what their profession. Why do I bother posting if all I am going to get is abuse?!!!0

ok 4 a-levels. but what job experience do you have? what do you do right now? can you get overtime? have you asked for more hours where you work - doing anything not just what you do now? and why don't you go around all the pubs and speak to the manager and ask him to keep you in mind. you can make good money working in a pub and as i've said its better than nothing.
if you can't ride your motorbike then can you sell it - how much is it worth? I understand you may not have enough to pay it off, but its costing you money just sitting there - tax and insurance. where does your husband work? can you not get a job in the same vicinity as him and then you could travel together?
can you get any job where you would work from home?
i understand about the animals i have a cat and wouldn't give her up for anything in the world.
keep posting the more info we have the more we can help and make suggestions.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

if you have no constructive advice then !!!!!! off.
i'm not the most sympathetic person in the world but I hate to see people in trouble and I try to make useful suggestions.
posts like yours don't help anyone they just make things worse.
at least OP has realised they are in trouble and has asked for help.
like I said !!!!!! off. waht you doing on the debtfree wanabee board if you don't want to hear about people in trouble.
and just saying "bankrupt is the way to go" isn't useful.  :mad:DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Rubbish you do not run up £40k worth of debts due to uncontrollable circumstances - uncontrollable spending habits yes.
Anyone can fall on bad times true, but then they have no place working in an industry that advises other people on their finances.
Get yourself down to the county court and get it over and done with or you'll waste the next 10 years of your life trying to sort this mess out. You aren't the first, you won't be the last and I'm not abusing you, I'm trying to make you face facts. You can eat bread and water for the next 5 years it won't get you solvent again and it might destroy your marriage.0 -
In hell dont stop posting, whatever you do. Other people will come along and make suggestions that we havent thought of. It may be that just one or two of these suggestions are what is going to make the ultimate difference to you. You need the expert guidance and help that some of these lovely people have to offer and most of them are really fantastic so please dont be put off. I know what its like to be shouted down because when I posted details of my debts it happened to me in no small way. I was actually called an idiot and a muppet. So please stay with us. We want you around on the forum to solve your problems. You are only young and it is easy to get into debt nowadays. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

i dont think the comments about the animals are fair
would people be recommending re-homing if they were children????
some people treat and love their pets as others do their children0 -
Sorry, I have apologised. I am not an animal person myself but In hell's comments about her animals touched me. Its not so easy to understand if you dont keep pets but I am not entirely heartless. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hi
I can understand some of what you're going through with regards to jobs in retirement areas, we also live in one. However I would look again at caring. My partner does it here, and although he can drive, some of the carers he works with cannot. They have the option of being 'walkers' if the office can plan a route within walking distance of their house, or doing the 'double-up' where someone comes and picks them up and drives them round and they go into clients who require two carers to operate hoists etc. Also he doesn't do any shopping or taking them into town. Maybe try a different care agency and see if you have more luck. Also try and get some of the seasonal work, I know it seems like students take it all, but there should be some around now with the weather starting to turn a bit nicer, and the students haven't really arrived home yet, so you might get lucky.
Good luck
