  • my advise is recheck how much you are giving your creditors to leave you with so little it sounds to much the main thing is pay your mortgage,i wouldnt move theres a lot to be said for living where you wish why be skint and be living in an area not suited to you (when i was in debt i found the rural area we lived in actually lowered the stress being in debt caused us and door step collectors rare anyway one did call i offered himmy payment he said i cant come out here for that very month never saw him again they say he was driving around the lanes so long he got reported to the police by country watch which could have counted for his ariation} back to your debts i think you should post soa pay your creditors token payments and get them to accept for 6 months in order for you to find another job pay your council tax main bills etc but tell unsecured debts they will have to wait thats it then dig your heals in but make them token payments of £1 but dont leave your self this skint .
so the golden rule is pay your essentials token payments of £1 for unsecured debt whether they like it or not until you get a job and my advice if you like where you live and can maintain the mortgage stay put pm me if you want any more advise and chin up been there and out of it now

Morning probably a stupid question but what is covered in housekeeping?
    Barclaycard 3800

Nothing to do but hibernate till spring

hire purchase is for my motorcycle as its my only form of transport- we have had the HP since November and have around 2 years left I think...

Housekeeping is cleaning, food, pets (as basically the CAB told us that we were only allowed £10 per month for any number of pets- and as we have quite a few we had to add some of the money to our housekeeping bill) umm toiletries, general living expenses I suppose. ..

But if you're walking to work can you do without the bike? Not what you would want to do I realise, but maybe needs must...exactly how many, and what pets have you got?
  • Hello,
I just feel so guilty and I have such low esteem as we are in this situation simply because I can't get a job.

    re, employment.

How far is your nearest town? I don't know what you usually do for a living, but surely you can't be living in the middle of nowhere?
Are there no pubs, bars, school, cafes, restauarants nearby. Anything would be better than nothing?

Have you checked your local council, hospitals website, there are usually tons of jobs available, both full and part time?

Just some suggestions for you, hope this doesn't come accross as insensitive, I am just offering some thoughts that you may not have had.

    love

  • so your paying token payments already then ? i wouldnt do iva and to be honest i would carry on as you are as i cant see where you can save but concentrate on trying to increase your income through ebay etc and obviously more jobs becouse it seems even then you can increase your income to let you live an acceptable life until your debts are clear but still pay token paymnts .
the other option is going bankrupt im afraid hence husband losing job etc the choice is yours i would keep struggling on to be honest for another year and take it from there

I would sell my bike but it would cost us £3000 to pay off a £1999 bike....

We are making some token payments- other won't let us until we have been issued with default notices. We can't do an IVA in the first place and I wouldn't anyway as given our constantly fluctuating financial circumstances its just way too risky...

We have sold everything we have to sell- we can't sell our computer as thats on finance too...

Pot o'gold- I already work for the council and so does my husband. Most of the pubs only employ temp positions which the students snap up straight away. There are no cafes or restaurants where I live- I live near a marina so basically the only things here are boats and they are often from foreign countries so don't employ anyone locally.

My mother works for the NHS and she sends me the vacancy bulletins- difficulty is my NHS local hospital might be closing so even if I did find a job there it would be very unlikely to be secure.

I have been searching for a different job for well over a year- my last jhob before this one I had to travell 110 miles a day to get to it as thats how little jobs there are around here as where I live is basically a retirement area....

In hell, if its a "retirement" area, have you considered working in a residential home for older people?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I can't as you need to be a registered carer (and due to location witha full car licence) as they are council owned residential homes (which are also going to be closed within the next four years to make way for 'warden' managed accomodation....)
