My wedding lingerie, gok wan items from simply be,has not arrived yet and my dress fitting is tomorrow at 12 noon.
I was so worried about it not being here yet after ordering last week that yesterday I ordered it again and paid for next day delivery.Still not here.Cut off was 12 for next day delivery and my order was completed at 12.02 so I doubt it will be here before I leave for the dress shop.
The first one may just turn up in time but what if it doesnt? Will I hang about hoping it arrives in time or will I go out and get a replacement corset?
So I think I have to go out and buy a corset tomorrow then before my fitting.I cannot find a corset seller in my area though,I have searche donline and on yell.com.All I can find is department stores and the standard "shapewear" just wont cut it.
So where in Glasgow or Ayrshire can I buy a good strong corset at the last minute to nip my waist in so I am the right shape for my fitting?

Any chance you can postpone the fitting?? Explain that you know how important undies are and yours hasn't arrived.
  • I dont know if the 'Flexees' brand shapewear is strong enough to pull my waist in a little but I am going to try that this morning,BHS and debenhams etc all stock that, and hopefully still get to the fitting.Only 5 weeks until the wedding and I had to wait 2 weeks for this appointment after my dress arrived so I dont want to miss it.They still have to make my jacket to match the dress and have not even discussed exact style with me yet so I have to get there today.
If I can t get suitable undies my son suggested using cardboard and bandages to bind myself up like a corset would.
    Getting a bit stressed.

  • Don't stress hun everything will be fine, I'm hoping the parcel man is knocking your door down right now with both corsets in!

    Good luck

  • try calling the shop and saying your corset hasnt arrived so can you postpone the fitting till tomorow or something...or just later today ?
its worth an ask...would mean you would have a definite chance of having the corset you want to get fitted with your dress :)

still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:
  • Well the dress shop were very nice about it and postponed the fitting until wednesday to give my corset more time to arrive.
I think I will order some more to try too from different places just incase the orders dont arrive from simply be.

  • Remember there are issues with the postal service at the mo - which is probably causing problems everywhere but some areas are probably worse than others. (I just ordered my contact lenses and they've got a new note on their site that they can't guarantee delivery dates at the moment)
I would try and buy something in a shop if you can - even if its not perfect but is near enough and do that naughty thing of taking it back after the dress fitting... I normally don't take stuff back like that - but in this case you may be justified as its a wedding emergency!
  • Hi there,

good luck with the arrival of your corsets. Shocking that Simply Be take so long!

Can I ask a question? Is your dress from a shop or China? As I am unsure as to whether or not I will need a corset for my Landy dress, as the ones in the shops seemed to be perfect without.

Let us know how you get on, am keeping fingers crossed xxx

Its from a wedding shop and although I think they are made up in china too this one has all the petticoats etc built in,its a Mori Lee.The sample looked good on and actually pulled me in a little but its not actually a corsetted top so I will look better held in a little more at the waist.
I have seen some pics of girls in dresses from china and they are all really nice too,the only thing I have noticed on some of them is that of the dressmaker doesnt use as many layers of fabric on the body you would need a corset just to smooth the dress, especially if its satin fabric as you can sometimes see the bellybutton indent on those.
