09000025687, 09087754623, and put them into the ICSTIS number checker, both coming up as 5ppmDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Hope this is in the correct place and not already posted.
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to compel all organizations using non-geographic numbers (e.g. 0845, 087* prefixes) to also publicize an equivalent geographic number (e.g. 01* / 02* prefixes) where they can be reached (and which can usually be called more cheaply than an 0845 / 087* number). More details

In 090 there's 93 x 10k ranges, provided by 41 different companies at 5ppm. There's nothing at 7ppm, though.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0

Maybe not at 7p, but there are ranges at 5p as I point out above.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I agree, however my point was that there are 090 numbers at less than 10ppm whereas people are saying that 090 start at 10ppm when they in fact start at 5ppm.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I didn't realise they started at 5p/min.
My point then equally applies to 0844 costing 5p/min versus an 090 costing 5p/min. The general public aren't aware that revenue sharing takes place on 08x numbers but they are aware on the 09x range.
I had a brief conversation with someone in work yesterday from another department. I told them that their tech support for a company that has been contracted to design/maintain their database is gaining money from tech support calls that are made to theml despite already paying an annual tech support fee anyhow. The reply was the usual 0870 is national rate and premium rate numbers are blocked.
I do agree that nobody is going to use a 5p/min or even 10p/min 09 number when they can go for 0844/0871.0 -
I'd agree it's out of order to charge for tech support plus also use an 0870...though I'm sure the company concerned would argue that the upfront cost would be higher otherwise.
Incidentally, we're not talking vast sums but I would assume that the revenue share on an 09 5ppm would be less than that on an 08 5ppm. It's all down to the intricacies of telephony interconnect accounting, but part of the costs that the originating network is allowed to retain is a provision for bad debt. Given that most of 09 is at far more expensive rates, the retention by the originating network is regulated at a higher rate (I seem to recall) hence the amount of money left to revenue share with the 09 number holder is that much lower.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -

The database in question is already designed so you're looking at maybe a few amendments plus answering any tech support calls. I can tell you now that the amount paid in tech support is a significant amount considering the database is used by other companies/gov organisations and I assume they also pay the same amount as where I work does.
I believe serious questions would be asked if it was found out they also make money from calls as well!
In most cases 08x is used to con customers and consumers with the exception of those (I believe few) that use it mainly for network services available on 08x.0
