Street Driving - Cars Over Your Side of the Road

Apologies on the rubbish image, can't find the exact thing I want.
Does anyone else find it annoying when you're driving along a road (coming the opposite way shown from this image) and another car also jumps towards you. There's enough space for both of you, but you do have to alter the course of your car so you're hugging the kerb so both of you can get past. I imagine the law is on the side of me, as the cars are parked over the oncoming driver's side of the road and he/she should have waited, but rather than leave my car on the same course and crash to prove a point, I have to move close to the kerb and crawl past as they do the same.
What are others' thoughts on this?

That people who think like you are idiots.:D
No offence, but it really bugs me when some idiot coming the other way wants to drive right up to the middle of the road despite the fact that there are parked cars on the other side. If there is room for both cars to fit through move over a bit.0 -

i think if theres enough space for 2 car to get past then its fine for 2 cars to get past.
i will tell you something that annoys me though. its the folk who can't judge the size of thier car and dont know just howe close they are to the kerb,so they want to take the whole road.
a woman coming towards me on a tight country road who was clearly well over into my side of the road expected me to stop and pull in just so she could keep going without stopping,so i kept my course and speed until she had to slam on the brakes and vere over to the left back to her side of the road,i could see her start to shout what i imagine to be some kind of abuse towards me,it was all very entertaining....work permit granted!0 -

And of course the one you are following that stops behing a parked car when something is coming in the opposite direction and there is enough room to drive a bus through the gap.:rolleyes:0 -
If there's room for 2 then yes, move over. If not, then whoevers side of the road has the obstruction on should be the one giving way.0

Better safe than sorry. IMO if you think you're that much better of a driver and can do it, their brake lights are on, their pulled in, so why not overtake them and do what they can't to show them how it's done, or quit moaning, lol! :beer:And of course the one you are following that stops behing a parked car when something is coming in the opposite direction and there is enough room to drive a bus through the gap.:rolleyes:0 -
It winds me up when i give way to some arrogant munter who gave me no choice but to give way, and they don't say thanks. lol.
I guess that's what happens when you drive a 13 year old tin can (Saxo) :rotfl:0 -

I'm with you. I've proved a few points, I'm on my third door mirror now, I usually replace them for the MOT, or when they eventually fall out. Spare at home ready. Really bugs me people who try to force me up the pavement, or rush through and think I'll stop at the other end and wait for them.0 -

theres better safe than sorry then theres i really cant judge how big my car is.
i was working in a yard last week where there is a car park for employees of the various companie who share the yard. i had to get my van next to the machine i was working on for various reasons, i made sure there was more than enough room for 2 cars to pass the other side of me, the bin lorry that passed and the other 2 large vans could pass but the one woman in her ford fiesta with nothing else coming towards decided to give me the stare of death because she was really struggling to get past me,seriously a bin lorry passed with a metre to spare either side but she felt it was too tight. she really shouldnt be on the road.
or maybe its how the woman in the maryhill area of glasgow flirt with guys?...work permit granted!0 -

I have mixed feelings about this. 50% of the time i tend be the person who just comes anyway and expects the other driver to not act like a moron and move over a little so we can both proceed without delay. I realise this is in contradiction with the highway code...but then queit a lot of it is a bit antiquated for modern motoring .
The other 50% usually when i judge it to be a bit tight i wait, then normally spend the next minute cursing the other driver as he continues to amble towards me at 15mph. Would it hurt to put your foot down a fraction?
Or even worse i stop to let the other driver come through who watches me stop and then decides he/she is in a charitable mood and also stops signalling me to come through arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
The application of common sense would reduce a lot of peoples woes.
We'd all be able to make a lot swifter progress if people used a bit intelligence to make more efficent use of our cramped road network.
If you can't cope with it maybe use public transport.0
