All,
What's reasonable/practical as an approach to get toddlers (say 1-2 yr olds) to take their naps? When they're clearly tired and need to.
Controlled crying stuff is cruel too young, and ineffective too old... when do people feel it's OK to leave baby in their cot crying because they should be asleep?
Bruno, do you have a sequence of events that lead up to naptime? Poppy goes around 10am and 2pm, whether she appears tired or not, and she knows what is happening as its the same every time. We have keywords 'Who is not in bed, Poppy's not in bed' (sung ITNG stylee!) and she takes her shoes off ready to go. I do the same with Jamie even though he doesn't really understand but will be used to the pattern as he gets older. They both settle themselves to sleep.
How is LO feeling today?

Firstly Hugs to Nicki.
Been a while since i've been on. Do not know how you all manage to chat so much. Alex will be 7 weeks on Friday and i'm pooped. 3 feeds last night, 1.30, 3.30 and 5.45. When he was only having one at the start. Nightmare. He also refuses to sleep much during the day, a 10 minute nod in his bouncer or swing now and again. I keep trying to put him down in his cot for a nap in the day, but he's not having it. Can hear him on the monitor now grizzling away. So not enough sleep is making him grumpy. It's a good job he's too bloody cute for words, so he gets away with it:p.
He wants feeding every two hours in the day, so anytime i have is spent attempting house work and the washing machine is on continuously.
Also has anyone tried Colief? for colic, reviews state how wonderful it is, Only given it to Alex for one day, but he seems even more restless, and his poos are watery and smell horrendously. I know i should persevere, but i'm wanting a miracle instant cure. But then don't we all?0 -

well we are back !!
Jabs werent too bad, but he bled quite a bit with the 2nd one, so had to put pressure on it which made him cry even more, and now he has a wee mini plaster !!
Saw the doctor when we were there to get his eye swab results, so he has an infection and we have been given drops.
We have been told that his paediatrician doesnt want to see him abot reflux till December, I said that I wanted him seen before that and demanded he phoned the hospital asking for an earlier appointment while I was there !!Pushy, me ????
So we should have an appointment for within the next 4 weeks.
Also they have offered him the swine flu jab even though he isnt 6 months because of the problems he had / has, but I have said no to it.
And they want him to see an optomitrist in the new year as he still isnt focusing on people
Think thats everything
Hope you are all well
((hugs)) Niki, hope he puts the weight on xxThe two best things I have done with my life

Sorry for extended quietness, finding sadness overwhelming at present.
I have changed the Weight document, it can now be editted by anyone. Please update and add more babies if you wish. Weights are done in KG, and please note the weeks column careful, as some early weeks are half weeks. Click on the tab at the bottom to enter weights:

SB - do you get all ur boots offers off the grabbit board or is there a special boots thread somewhere? x
Mainly the Grabbit Board.
Honestly, it is worth checking the glitches out but it is a faff sometimes with lots of coupons and remembering exactly what to do.
This week I received £50 worth of points from a £2.50 spend and 10 Ruby & Millie lipsticks worth £11 each!. Most will go on stocking fillers and the points spent on presents!

Thanks emlou. Will give it a few days. A couple of the mums at baby massage highly recommended it, along with doctor brown bottles. Will see how he goes for the next week or so, then when its the local boots event next wednesday, i may invest in the Dr Brown bottles. As you can get £12 in points if you spend £50. MSE i think!0 -
Workingmummy, I used it with Jamie and it was a miracle after a week or so. My HV recommended it as she recognised the colic symptoms and we were at the end of our tether. Our Dr put it on repeat prescrption for 6m so we could request it as and when as the bottle is so tiny and so expensive!
ETA: we also used Dr Brown's following recommendation.
