Haven't been on for ages, so no chance of catching up.
Have been having a stressful time of it. The CMW phoned last Friday and cancelled our scheduled home visit because they were short staffed. My FiL took the call as I was upstairs still feeding Edward and didn't object. When I came down to find out who was on the phone, I hit the roof, and phoned to complain about it being cancelled when there were concerns about his weight gain. It took 6 phone calls to different people before they finally told me to take him in to my doctor's surgery where the midwife doing the antenatal clinic would weigh him.
I took a sample of the yucky stuff I had been passing in too, and the midwife confirmed that it did seem to be part of the placenta which had been left behind. Edward had lost 60 of the 100g weight gain he'd made last week, so was still well under birth weight. We were sent as an emergency case to the local hospital, where he was admitted and we were kept in for 5 days.
He has now put on a very small amount of weight (about 50g) and has been sent home, pending the outcome of the tests which they have run (which apparently take up to 2 weeks to get the results back) and a sweat test to rule out Cystic Fibrosis. He needs to be weighed at least twice a week and taken back into hospital again if his weight gain stalls again or if he loses weight again, but I have been finding it very difficult to persuade the local HV to do this (even the hospital who phoned and told her she needed to be doing this described her as "obstructive", and told her she must be spending time on lots of babies who didn't need her, if she was too overworked to find two slots a week for a baby who clearly did!)
The Breastfeeding support people have been fantastic though, and have been to see me twice while we were in hospital and given me some tips to try to make sure he takes in the maximum amount of milk per feed. Counterintuitively the advice has been to feed him less frequently and for less time than I had been doing, and whilst on one level this comes as something of a relief, he is very hard to settle between feeds and cries inconsolably.0 -

Sounds like my night! But I went back to bed til 10.30am then watched Flashforward on Five on DemandIn the past I would spend it without a second thought but now I'm much better I have a capsule wardrobe that OH laughs at; 3 pairs of jeans and about 10 t-shirts and thats all I wear day to day
Just like me!
Never spend money on clothes althou I will be treating myself to a new wardrobe for work when I go back!
