Becles, I know what you mean about mums. Mine was really good the few weeks after giving birth - she brought round meals, cleaned the house from top to bottom, etc.

However since then, she's come out with all sorts of stupid things. We were round there yesterday and Caitlin screamed/cried for 15mins non-stop. Mum kept saying "it's not right, she shouldn't be crying like that", "it's making me so upset to see her like that", "it looks like it could be colic", "maybe it's her teeth" etc etc.

She was tired and she was tired because kept refusing to go to sleep. It was about 3pm and she'd only slept for 40mins max all day. I gave in and put some bonjela on her gums but that didn't have any effect anyway.

In the end, we came home and she slept the entire time we were in the car, didn't stir when we brought her into the house and only woke up 10mins after that because she was hungry as it was time for a feed.

    Grrrrrrr

.. I get the most amazing smiles and giggles and he seems so pleased to see me. Not sure where he gets that from cos I aint a morning person.

LOL I was just thinking the same about Rhys half an hour ago :D He tried laughing a couple of times again this morning and surprised himself. I was lying there, wishing I could have another half an hour as he was babbling and patting my face

Bruno, huge *hugs* for you and Elijah :( What are the chances of you getting an appointment easily today? Poised ready with the phone for 9am? :)

Exactly the same here. Caitlin slept til 5:30 this morning (best night for ages) and we woke up to hear her gurgling away to herself. DH gets up at 6:30 for work, so I tried BF her to get her back to sleep as we couldn't sleep listening to her, we just kept laughing at her. It didn't work and then she fell back to sleep herself at 6:25, so I got a lie-in til 7:10 when she woke again.

Although I think she's just fallen back to sleep with my boob in her mouth, so will leave her a couple more mins and then hopefully put her down on the bed and I can nip and wash my hair. Need to get her weighed today and my hair feels minging although oddly it doesn't look too bad.

Elle - haven't managed to do the photos from Wed yet, but will do soon, promise!

Well done on the fabby sleep Fergus. Bet your mummy feels lots better for it too :)

Becles - whilst I was saying about my own mum, I forgot to say that I thought £25 for 8 tops is really good. That's only just over £3 per top on average.

Thanks all - spoke to NHS Direct, and they actually recommended not to go to doctor unless he starts showing signs of dehydration (lack of pee, lethargy/confusion, sunken/sallow skin tone...) which so far he isn't. They said to try to give him "lots and little" food and drink, and if he can keep that down then keep going. Obviously if he won't keep anything down, then we will get really worried and go to doctor this afternoon... for now I am at work with fingers crossed, I can leave later if I need to.

NMS - that attitude/response is a real problem, although it only turns up when she is really stressed or exhausted. After our blip a month or two ago, she has been good and really doesn't have that attitude, but early-hours stuff or similar sends her over the edge a bit :( she also has a nasty cold at the moment and been sleeping badly (plus neighbour's noisy pipes!). Not too sure what to about it, but will be leaving it a bit til current mini-crisis is over at least.

Ive always struggled at night, im fine if ive had some sleep but i admit ive not wanted to deal with elliot some nights. My hubby has always been great and helped me as much as possible. It's usually the same with me ie when im over tired and stressed out that i am terrible at dealing with things. I have to have some time out to calm down and stop getting upset.

    elle,

Are you wakey enough to have your work brain switched on?

HR may have found a window of hope for my next year's pay.

Looks like I can do all my KIT earning next month and maybe still meet the threshold for SMP.

It all seems now to rest on making 'the business case' for having me there for extra KIT days.

I wondered about trying to justify it from a staff retention perspective, ie good to hang on to me cos it costs loads of time and money to recruit.

Thing is I've no idea how HR depts quantify the cost of having to re recruit for a post...

Do you know anywhere I can look that up?

I'm hoping I could say to my manager for £600 pounds spend now you can save the dept £xxxx going forward (but worded better!)

Feel free to ignore this request if too busy/tired/trapped under Rhys etc!

    xxx

PS Hope Rhys got my PM? :D;)

I found out about MSE five years ago when my brother told me about the e-mails and sent me one but I didn't join the forums until they started the green/ethical board. I mainly just went on OS and green/ethical but then just when I had been searching for stuff about having an MSE baby, Bailey started the pregnancy thread so I joined that and then ended up graduating to here.
Out of curiosity what size are LOs feet (more aimed at carla, susan, SB,Becles and any others with girlie 2ish yr olds)
Alice is 7 F currently. Was 5 1/2 F when she turned 2 but then grew really quickly.
I've tried to get Keira to catch them numerous times, from kids with it,and she just won't get them! She even kissed, hugged and shared a dummy with my uncles kid, and the next day he had chickenpox! I want her to get them now as I got mine a wee bit older and have the scars to prove it.
Alice had it just before she was 2 and she has scars. We put sudocrem on all the marks on her face and on the places where she had really bad spots because of her eczema (back of neck, backs of knees and one ankle) for months afterwards. Her face and neck are fine and her ankle and one of her knees are too but she does have scars on the worst knee and also on her tummy and back where we didn't sudocrem them. The sudocrem was totally worth it though as it obviously made a difference.

Button: Kiera might be immune to chicken pox. My Mam had countless friends with chicken pox, then nursed me and my brother and all three of mine when we've had it, but she's never caught it at all herself!
Something like one in ten cases of chicken pox are so mild that the person or their parents don't know that they've had it.

She still tries to micro-manage my life and I know I don't live up to her standards. With the weather turning colder, Charlotte needs some long sleeved tops. Was in Sainsburys and they had some pretty ones, so I bought 8 different tops as I only wash the clothes on a weekend with working during the week. I spent about £25 on the tops, and was showing her them as they are really pretty. My Mam had a rant saying I was being extravegant and going over the top  Fair enough if I'd spent a fortune on designer brands, but they were just Sainsburys own brand and I thought they were good value for money.
That's only £3/top. I've only bought tops for Alice once so I don't know what the going rate is but that sounds fairly reasonable to me.

    Morning,
Bruno - I really hope Elijah feels better soon. I remember Jake having something like that a few months back and its awful feeling like you can't do anything for them.

Becles - That sounds just like my mum! I dread having to tell her things because all i get is negativity, she was worst when i found out i was pregnant with Jake. I'm starting to be a bit more assertive with her now though, whereas before i would have just done as she had said to avoid arguments. I just think i'm 25 with my own family so i'm going to do things the way i want to, and make my own decisions. (sorry that turned into a bit of a rant!)

I also think the 8 tops for £25 was really good :)

Well jake has let me have a lie in today :) was amazed when i looked at the time, usually we're up about 7am! Having a quiet day today. Got to take the dog to the vets later but thats about it.

Hope everyone has a good day :) x
