I have only spent 6 full days at home since her birth 17 weeks ago. We are out and about everyday, whether it be driving 2hrs to see family or going to Asda. Can I suggest that before you go, you spend as much time out of the house with her as possible. This way it wont seem so daunting when you have to do the 'big journey'. I'm no good at the practicalities though, I just shove everything into a bag and hope that I have everything she needs. The way I see it is its not the end of the world if I forget her steriliser (I know some people are hot on this and I am too but I figure baby will survive if I boil the stuff or just wash it if need be), her muslins (there's always tissues, my sleeve, kitchen roll), her spare clothes (the kid wont care if I just wrap her in a blanket until I get more). I realise my approach is a little haphazard but the moment I started to relax on our trips out everyday instead of worrying about what might go wrong, was the moment I really started to enjoy it all.
I appreciate for a trip of this magnitude you will need to be a little more organised than me but we have some great list writers here, who i'm sure will be chomping at the bit to get one of their spread sheets out!
Hugs and kisses to you. I am keeping everything crossed that you can work something out so your OH can accompany you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
hi mookie,
thanks for your post.
i am like you, i am out most days. it would be an 'unusual' week for me if we spent more than one full day in.
i do like yourach though. i worry too much of what others will think and say. i am not very thick siknned so would be devastated if someone said something ot me on the plane about LO.money_maker wrote: »AF, I wouldnt worry about a few noisy toys so long as they are not very loud, mos passengers would prefer that than a crying baby !! When we flew with Jasmine we packed a backpack with a few books, toys and a bottle of water, snack etc... so it was all close to hand
i will take things like that in a baby for her. she will be most happy with a mobile phone, packet of wipes, packet of nappy bags, skyh remote, and a chocolate wrapper or crisps packet (of course not having eaten the contents)0 -
AF how will she be when you fly?Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070

that is the other thing...i have said to hubby i am scared wont be able to come back. it's hard enough for me to say good bye when the two of us have gone, even harder when i am on my own, and i hate to think of what it is going to be like with LO and I have to say goodbye. just dont know if i can put myself on the plane back (and i know my parents wouldn't force me)
