Hmm.. seems the nearest baby signing class to me is an hour away! I wouldn't mind going, I know where it is, but it starts at 10am!

Will ask the HV when I see her on Friday if there is something more local. If not, the one an hour away has a new six week starter course starting on Nov 3rd :D

The study is looking at whether the signs for 'milk' 'more' and 'nappy' and the 'please' and 'thank you' signs stop babies from developing the words for these at an early stage...and then stop them developing supporting words later (because they are used to one sign meaning what they want to say).

The study could go either way though and will never be conclusive because you can't make the same child twice and try it a different way second time ;):D

Hmmm - I agree here. DS doesn't use words, but does make sounds. One favorite sound, sounds like no. He uses the Makaton sign for No a lot! I often wonder if its easier for him to use the sign - and maybe I should ignore the sign until he makes the effort and says it instead.

I wouldn't buy the drawers but the desk will be battered within a couple years anyway. We always glue the kids stuff as we build it. Erins desk is scruffy after 2yrs with all the use. It's the cheapest bit in the room. As for next, I pick and choose. Most of my stuff ideas from next that I actually buy from Ikea or the Range, but a couple of items will be from Next, say the wall stickers or lamp. And the art on the walls are canvas that I let them paint (in the garden) with left over emulsion I have. We have some lovely paintings in this house. Be lovely if Dylan gave her one, you could buy a large square one and do hand and feet prints in circles or something.
Too many children, too little time!!!

Thats the one thing that we really have to do, glue them this time !! We have never done that and then wonder why everything falls apart !! You see, the reason I struggle with all this that you lot are so good at is that I have never been to Ikea !! She has a print in her room or her and Dylans hands together :) I have bought a few of those frames with no frame (??) you know the ones that just clip closed to put a few family pics and some paintings in on one wall. Good idea about a few choice pieces from that are special though ......
Hmm I think I could do with longer that 4 weeks to prepare for this !!!
