Has she got her own post-birth toiletries? Maternity pads, breast pads, throw away knickers? I was caught out with DS1 and had nothing. The hospital only give you a few pads then you have to supply your own. Oh and nipple cream if she is expressing, it's handy to have just in case.

Bitzer - the thing I found most helpful was people cooking for us so we didn;t have to bother. KMates came round each night with a cooked meal and we just washed their dish and gave it back when we were done.

I had batch cooked enough for a couple of weeks and having that done for us for a further two weeks really made a difference.

you could either cook each night for them or batch cook for them for thier freezer.

Also - any housework you can do will be very appreciated. My mum would come over and just clean the house once a week and change our bed, and it was so lovely not to have to worry about doing it.

Hi all, here's hoping some parents out there will be able to help me as I feel I'm going slightly crazy due to stress!

My son is 6 and goes to a small school. There's only 7 children in his class, 2 other boys. He always used to get on well with these other 2 boys and we had them round for tea on a regular basis and they used to play in the park.

In the last few weeks, however, they have shunned him completely and will not play with him at all. This has been going on for about a month now and my son is getting increasingly upset, crying at night and not wanting to go to school saying he feels all alone and no one likes him. We've talked to the teacher who is keeping an eye on the situation and getting the children to mix up groups in class etc.

We've also talked to the parents. 1 of whom was lovely about it and will try to help and one got really defensive.

I'm sure my child isn't a little angel at school but there doesn't seem to be any reason behind it and he's getting more and more upset! Has anyone else had this happen??

Tia, am I missing something, or do I just have really robust nipples? Expressing for six weeks now, haven't needed cream? Or is it needed if you're doing both BF and expressing?

  • Was putting Dylan back to bed, had to get him up to change his sheet as it was soaked through after he had been sick :(

Tigs, nit everyone needs it, but your nipples can get quite cracked and sore and even bleed, so the cream just helps ease the pain :)

  • Sami and SM - I totally understand where you are coming from with people not treating both children the same. I explained to DD1 when Ruby was born that people may bring pressies for the baby but not for her and she was old enough at 14 to understand but really I didnt think this would happen and it did. I over compensated tho and still do - although baby treats are alot cheaper than teenager clothes, makeup etc:rotfl:

What really peeved me off was OH parents at christmas last year - to be honest we all got a load of carp and but they got DD2 a massive chrimbo card in a box all OTT wonderful granddaughter etc and DD1 got one the size of a gift tag??? I was that annoyed I just put them both in the bin. Ruby got a present that was for 3 and over ( she was just 9 months) and I got a boots free gift! still waiting for our birthday presents from april!
