pinkpig - if she doesn't have kids (and maybe even if she does) she prob doesn't realise.
I'd tell her you can't leave her yet, if you forced yourself to go you'd be no fun anyway xx

OK, I have a little problem. DSD has just phoned to invite DH and I out for a meal with her, her boyfriend and his mum (and possibly his brother). She said 'I'm asking you now so that you've got time to get a babysitter'. I hope this doesn't sound awful but I don't want to get a babysitter. I haven't left her with anyone yet (only with DH for about 20mins!). There's no-one I'd be happy to leave her with. Would it be unreasonable of me to say I'm taking her with me?

Does DSD treat LO as her sister? It seems a little strange to request that you don't bring your kids along to a family meal to me. I speak as part of an extended family and we come as a package (DSS included for my family). I would give your hubby the opportunity to go alone if LO's will definitely not be allowed (don't think you could take one without the other!).

Skinty - she probably needs to get used to being in the back on her own...I went through some horrible times with Benjamin in the car when there was just the 2 of us (he got used to having someone in the back with him). If you buy one of the mirrors so you can see her and she can see you (although she may be a bit young to understand it yet) you might be okay.

Edit - as long as you all get there in tact with the pram, that is the most important thing. Feed her before you leave and pray for sleep along the way! Does she have a fave toy?
MY FAVE TIP - turn the radio up really loud! Just for a few seconds! It kind of shocks them into silence!

Yeah, we are thinking new car! But for next week I think we will have to [put the chassis on the back seat and stop every 20 mins to try and clam her down! Such a nightmare. WHy do they make these things so big?

I have a mirror but it freaked her out! I know we just have to keep trying but it's so stressful. I wanted to ease her in with small journeys but we hardly ever go anywhere cos I walk into town all the time.

Partly it's cos I need a toy bar thingy but can;t find one, cos then she;d have something to play with.

MFD :grouphug: Will MIL take Benjamin for the odd day to let you get your tender sorted?

I'm feeling similar about the house stuff getting on top of me and I'm, right now, trying to work out a day (amongst appointments) for my Mum to have Rhys for the day for me :o (ETA: And, yes, I hate the idea of "palming him off" on someone else for the day but for the sake of my sanity, I think I need to... and so you do *hugs*)

    *nasty pokes* to DH :p

    Thanks hun!

And I don't think it would be palming him off at all - you know me, I am the biggest believer in mums needing mum time (even if it is just to clean the bathroom!!)

She may well surprise you! I hope so!

It may be worth a pop onto the Preg Thread to give the ladies a warning to check that the pram they buy fits into their car ;)
