a bit of kidology going on that if I don't call then it won't happen.
She came on recommendation from Big Boobie and she sound lovely! A bit drippy but very sweet!!
I know I need to make more calls but it took so much for me to make one (I missed my docs appointment psyching myself up
) that I look at the other names and I don't know who to call
I am going to see her on Monday afternoon - does anyone have the list of questions to hand?
I remember making that first call. It took me 2 weeks to get over it:o
I looked at a list of questions from some website or other before I went to see my childminders but I forgot everything as soon as I got there! The ones I saw had folders of paperwork, courses attended, their certificates and references anyway so most of what I wanted to know was answered in there. Off the top of my head - charges, holidays (how many weeks she wanted and do I still have to pay when we want holiday!), I asked about their background (cos i'm nosey!), where she would sleep, how flexible she could be, how many other kids she looked after and ages, what a typical day was like, whether she completed a daily diary for baby, what their partners did (again cos i'm nosey!), whether she drives, what car she drives (cos i'm really really nosey!) etc etc.Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0 -
i've still not done my creche app form for Jack to start in June 2010 - keep putting it off but I should do it cos there is a waiting list!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
... what they will do if child is naughty or upset, what do they do about children fighting, how much tv they will watch (some childminders are actually Cbeebies), pets and how they interact with the children (if any), do they take them to the local toddler group (the ones I know do) or do they have minder meets (again, the minders here have a get together a few times a week either at another house or the community centre).0

Hi guys
thinking of pressies for Henry's birthday and Christmas as I know that we will be asked for ideas soon..just wanted to ask... does anyone's LO have anything like this that this that they can recommend. This one has a few bad reviews as does a Tomy one I saw in Boots
http://www.elc.co.uk/toy/super-scribbler-blue/
Also thinking of asking for some money so we can buy him a nice slide for the back garden as he loves the one at the park. Our trouble is that with birthday 5th Nov, baby due 19th Dec and then Christmas theres gonna be too many pressies so thinking of getting some bigger toys maybe
Maz, I put that on Poppy's list as she has a small IgglePiggle toy similar and she loves it. I haven't read any reviews - if its rubbish it will be sent back!
I have the same problem as you, Poppy's birthday on Wed and Jamie's just after Christmas. All my family buy them vouchers, mostly for John Lewis, but always buy gifts too and request a wishlist (and the lovely ladies here helped me out last week
).
Does he have one of those Little Tykes cars? Poppy loves hers. In fact out garden looks plasticfantastic with all the paraphernalia! :rotfl:

Garden not really big enough for that plus he has a Beanstalk ride on that he plays on. More interested in the hosepipe or OHs spade (and he has small ones of those already...Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
if you're not going to use them then I could def find a use for them!
exactly what I did!!!!
pah! guess thats why they r called value bottles
Jack was sleeping on my chest & started screaming for no apparent reason - checked his nappy & he'd done a lil poo! He hates pooing - as soon as he does he screams the place down even though I assure him it's perfectly normal & we all do it :rotfl:
Sami - when u off on ur holibobs?
lol at poo trauma
I won't use them, they're still in plastic wrapping, the old style ones with written markings
we go a week 2mo, 10th oct0 -
Bless you mooki and tia - any more, keep em coming!!
I phoned another and she unfortunately didn't have a vacancy because she sounded exactly like I want my childminder to sound!!
But she did tell me all about the local Children Come First Childminder Network and that there is a local co-ordinator who knows all the Network Childminders personally and she will tell me who has vacancies and who she recommends for me :T Result! She is in work on Monday at 11.30am
I am feeling strangely bouyed up now
I think I know what I am looking for because Mum minded for so long and mum is checking out all the offstead reports for me (she works for social services with CM's in Derbyshire!!) but I think a list of questions (not taken from a standard list) will help me...
...especially because I can think 'tia told me to ask about' and 'mooki told me to ask about' - I am much more likely to remember that way
please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman
