  • Pinkpig - I let dd1/ds1 both have maymay's (aka dummies) and was adamant that I would not cave and let dd2 have one... and she didn't. However at 6 months old she started sucking 2 of her fingers... on her 4th Birthday she deceided that she was a "big girl" and stopped  although there have been a couple of times when she is sleepy/upset and you will see the hand hover towards her mouth and then she realises what she is going to do and stops herself... She did suck them all the time though (so much so that the skin on her fingers was hard where her teeth rubbed against her skin )

Best laid plans and all that x

When we had a scan with dd3 we saw her hand hovering at her mouth... I have given her a dummy (for during the night/school run) *bad mother* but when she doesn't have it in she has tried to get her finger in... I have a funny feeling that she is going to favour her fingers over the dummy... she is a carbon copy of dd2 - so much so that in a sleep deprived state I have almost called her Poppy :o (although at that point she was nameless!)

Better go wake twinkle for a feed x

MM, Rose is four and a half months and wont really pick things up yet. She will take her dummy out of her mouth and as Claire J said, sometimes put it back in again. She does now look as tho she's trying to reach out for things but wont really hold onto things, even if i put them in her hands. She does occasionally but more often than not drops it.

Ive been up and about early today as DS wanted me to pick up Fifa 10 for his PS3, done a bit shopping too. Hope everyone has a good day x

Rmac...I obviously hadnt kept any equipment as my youngest before Rose is 15!! Wont be keeping any this time round as she is my last!!

  • Can I ask mums of the 3 - 4 month old babies or anyone that knows, when did the babes start holding toys/rattles or even reaching for them ??

Babies start to hold rattles around 10 weeks, around 3 months bring there hands together and around 4 moths reach out for a toy held infront of them.

But they are only approx milestones at that age each child is different. So don't worry about it too much.

Ed was punching the jingle ball on the gym around 12wks I think but it was only this last week or so that he has been reaching out and grabbing things, I'm sure Chris was slower though

oh I'm glad I missed it then, I'm not sure what is worse; knowing your child was affected or not knowing for sure.. *shudders* its too horrible to think about!
