It probably wouldn't affect him as far as actually feeding goes but maybe it's a distraction to him when he is trying to latch on... Full term babies don't always latch straight away with any success... Is there a good infant feeding co-ordinator at your hospital supporting you?
Rhys' tube was up his nose so didn't get in the way
Tigs, we had to make the joint effort and while I attempted to breastfeed him and he'd be faffing with latching, OH tube fed him at the same time to try to trick him into thinking the latching and sucking was filling his belly, iyswim

Much to my disgust, it's morning

The midwife signed us off yesterday although we can request one more visit in the next six months if we need. The monster is now 10 lbs 7, has reached all her three-month developmental milestones at eight weeks, and slept from just before 1am and is still going strong at 6am, although she's starting to wriggle so it won't be long - the lack of waking is what woke me :rotfl:
Something has bitten me, and I have patches of swollen itchy redness that are now bigger than the palms of my hands, one on each arm. I have to go to the doctor. An acquaintance recommended a particular antihistamine - I looked it up and it crosses over into breastmilk and cause seizures in small babies
I hate doctors. Plus we've a ton of bureaucracy stuff to do today so Husband will no doubt take my lovely girl again and I will miss her while I languish at the doctor's office. Still, he just brought me tea and toast - not as good as spending the day with my wonderful baby but it kicks the day off nicely all the same.
Lovely day to all - hugs for everyone who's having trouble feeding, yah boo sucks to obnoxious HV, pokes with sharp sticks to grizzly OHsOrganised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I read somewhere that it was six months so I stuck to that till she was one and then didn't worry any more. Because I was expressing more than she needed, I ended up having to always freeze what I expressed and defrost stuff to feed her with in order to rotate fast enough to keep within the six months. Current stuff remaining is 17 months old and she hasn't suffered any ill effects from having it. I tend to treat freezer storage guidelines the same way I treat dates on food.My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Susan - do I take it you don't stick to the 3 months in the freezer rule?
I love my food processor! Especially when we have people round for Sunday lunch and it chops all the veg for me.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

good luck with bites...! The bad news is that when you posted she was still going strong at 6am, it was actually 5am  0 -

Although stocks are depleting now I have stopped expressing
I used to have a rectangular yoghurt pot (one of those big ones) with a load of lids in it to squash the milk according to how much milk there was. I then put them in ice-cream/margerine tubs (with a bit of cardboard sticking out with the date range on it) once they were frozen. Have only got three tubs worth left now.
Both really good ideas thank you. I did lay the bag down so it would be as flat as possible but because I laid it in one of the wire shelf sections rather than in a drawer (both of my freezers are uprights rather than chests), it now has lumps and bumps in in from the wire shelf!
MFD - what will do you when you run out of your frozen stocks? Will Benjamin be one by then?My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Chopsticks - changing docs to rid yourself of the HV is a bit drastic unless you are unhappy with the docs in other areas. They usually cover more than 1 docs surgery anyway. If she is rude to other people too then maybe a tactfully worded letter to the Docs Practice Manager explaining that she has made comments which you found upsetting and unhelpful but asking them to be discrete (and not tell her it was you) would be a start? If you stress that you feel that her comments will make you less likely to visit with genuine problems in the future and that you have seen other ladies getting upset too then they may just have a quiet word with her???
MFD - it was the same surgery (albeit a locum Doctor, so not really the surgery's fault) who prescribed Caitlin a cream to clear up her sticky eye that said on the packet "not to be used in or around the eyes".I believe your HV is allocated according to the area you live and not what Doctors you go to (or at least that's how it's done here). There should be more than one HV in the group though so you should be able to request a different one.
If you're worried about the jabs, you could wait until after them to complain. (Maybe write it and then hand it in after the jabs?)
I actually didn't know HVs did jabs - it was the Drs who did them when I was little and the nurses do them at our Drs.
Susan - I think you're right about the HVs being in groups and that's perhaps why I saw a different one for my home visits (she is attached to a different surgery) as the one attached to my surgery was on reduced hours so didn't have time to see me. I still have the number for the lady who did my home visits and she was nice, so I might just phone her in the future when I have any questions.
I know that all the clinics round here work on some kind of rota, so different HVs are at different ones each week.
I was surprised too at the HV doing the jabs. I mentioned it to my NCT group and they all had nurses to do their LOs' jabs.
I think I've got a dodgy surgery!
You would be a fabby HVThis is why I'm !!!!!! off that I'm not allowed to be a HV you have to have previously worked as a nurse or MW first - why?!?!
I don't know of any other career that works like that??
I KNOW I could do it but I also KNOW I could never be a nurse or MW (I don't 'do' needles or blood, or putting my hand up foofs!!)
I would be a lovely HV, the kind that you all want

Morning all. I hope you all had some sleep!
We were up for an hour an a half in the night, which was a bit of a struggle after finally getting used to her sleeping though, but never mind.
No work today ... well... lots of work, just no-one is paying me to do it, but my question of the morning (see, I get you lot working too
) before i go to the supermarket - I'm spending a fortune on baby breakfast cerials. This baby eats nearly as big a bowl of breakfast cerial as I do! Are there any grown-up cerials that don't have sugar/salt added that I could try her on? I will go do a label-inspection at Mr T later, but I thought asking you lot might be quicker, seeing as between us we all know everything now we are Mums
