Tigs, that was something I wondered about babies in SCBU. Do they not cry frequently? Why is that? Do they cry for comfort, or are they too little to do that? (Hope you don't mind the question, just interested. I've always wanted to ask, but always worry about upsetting/offending)
Good luck for feeding tomorrow, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Even if nothing happens, it'll be great for your supply. We had the little mouth/big nipples thing, which didn't help our situation. Babies have been known to latch on after months and months and months, so don't worry if it is slow going.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Ahh.. we don't have curtains round each inci here - wish we did!
Had a seperate room to express in too so by the time you'd done skin-to-skin then got a nurse to help you put them back with all the wires, got them sorted, only then for the nurse to suggest you do the next tube feed etc etc, any immediate benefits of the skin-to-skin had worn off completely  0 -
There were screens available for feeding but I only used them if there were a lot of visitors in or if a dad was in my line of sight. Amber was in a corner so I could sit with my back to the room and nobody could see me. As for expressing, it was always done in my room that I had to myself (was still an inpatient) except the very first time for DS1 when I was still on the ward and some ignorant git pipes up 'whats that?' his misses answers in a shut the hell up voice 'the breast pump to express milk, her baby is in special care' and he answers 'why? is she a junkie like?' There wasn't any expressing in special care in the old hospital or new one. The new one did have rooms so you could take baby through I think...0

Evening all! How are we doing?
I've spent most of today in the bath, this first period has kicked my !!!. I was in so much pain this morning that my hubby asked me if he should call an ambulance but some very strong codeine and a very hot bath seems to have worked for now. Hubby is off work this week so he just brought baby G up for her feed then took her away to play and let me relax. I married a superstar!0 -

Howdy, hows tricks? Toby is good, he has decided that he needs lots of toy all the time. He has amazing focus and is playing with toys that are far too complicated for babies! He has also started proper hugging! He just turns round to face me, puts his arms around (well across, I'mwide) and squeezes, while resting his head on me. Then he stops and plays some more.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
