oooh AF seth doesnt like the dark car either, but he doesnt cry, he just stares with wide open eyes and pulls a terrified face :( we are moving him to a forward facing seat soon cos he is a little wide for his rear one now (he cant wear a bulky jacket or coat when in it cos his arms wont go in any more ) and when we do we might put one of those stick on push lights somewhere in the back, maybe on the back of the chair he isnt sat behind or down on the raised bit in the middle of the floor between the seats? we dont want to do it now cos he might be better when he is facing us IYSWIM

Hi MM, I feel pants too, me and Maddy have a sore throat and snuffles, hurts to swallow and bit of a temperature. Is Dylan ok?

Thanks SM and Sami, get very over emotional when anyone upsets my kids, but I think we are supposed to aren't we!

    can i pick your brains???

we took LO out in the car tonight and realised that it was the first time she has been in the car when it is dark (strange i know).

she hated it. she just cried and cried.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to make her less scared? ihave a thing that goes on her car seat that plays a tune and there are lights on the flowers but that wasn't enough.

i think she isn't a fan of the dark int he bedroom either.

    thanks

Oh god - I had this problem on a trip home from my mums _pale_ nearly 2 hours of desperate sobbing in the back of the car whilst I was driving home on my own. It was awful.

I found a few more trips in the dark did the trick! He just didn't know what was occurring ;)

Personally I would advise against nightlights. DSS only got rid of his when Benjamin was born because he felt like a wimp because Benjamin slept in the dark and he didn't :rotfl:he's 9!!

  • hi tara, yeah Dylan seem fine, as does Chris, but Jasmine is still sick and now I have it, so we are going to have to be careful for a couple of days. Its a sore throat and head and coughing contantly that we have, not nice at all. Hope you and maddy get better soon :)

seth has a nightlight, but thats our fault cos we thought it better to use one than to have to turn the big light on to find his dummy in the middle of the night :o also, in the flat we lived in til he was 3-4 months old there was a street light outside and we didnt have blackout curtains, so he got used to it being lighter in there too, and when we moved the nightlight became even more necessary. in the flat, we used to turn the nightlight on when we went to bed, he was quite happy to not have it on! it isnt a bright one, its one of those plug in auto ones
