Sorry, another me post. I've written everything down. I would like someone to read it, and tell me if anything needs explaining or expanding on. It is 2500 words, and quite personal, long and miserable. Do you think any of you lovely people could readit through?

    Hi everyone! :hello:

First of all, confession time - I have to admit to a bit of stalking! Now that my Weezl Hunt has brought me here (Hi Weezl! :hello:) I hope that I might be able to enlist the help of all of you. If you bear with me, I'll explain...

I want to do some research into healthy pregnancy (no, not yet but it's on the cards ;)), particularly from a nutrition point of view. Weezl, you can see where this is going :D Being that Weezl is a self-confessed stats geek, I figured that she may well have some useful numbers up her sleeve. But who knows, perhaps there are many 'Weezls' lurking on this thread whose brains I could pick?

My reasons are twofold - firstly the purely 'selfish' one of wanting to give my own kids the best start in life and secondly, to better understand pregnancy nutrition (and also deficiencies) in the developing world. More of this second one will be revealed in time ;)

So if anyone has any useful info at all about nutrition in pregnancy and during breastfeeding, I'd be very grateful. Specific dietary requirements eg x amount of y a day but also more general knowledge you've gained from your own pregnancies would be great. That includes anything to do with cravings, going off some food altogether and any other food/nutritional gems you've discovered that I am unaware of as yet! Also any websites you may have used would be great, as would any advice from fellow vegetarians.

I'm thinking I'll start a separate thread for this but just wanted to post in here first in case there's one already on the go with all this kind of info in?

Thankyou for taking the time to read this, and for any help you may be able to provide x

Bails - here is an artical on Omega 3 and the importance of it during pregnancy. You might find it interesting and it's quite straight forward in the explanations.

When pregnant, I tried to eat more fish (although I did have sushi and there is debate over that). I wouldn't say I had any proper cravings or anything that completely repulsed me, but for the first couple of months, I didn't have much of a taste for meat. Walking round the supermarket took ages as I just didn't fancy any meat for dinner and spent ages pondering over what to buy! I also ate a lot of oranges in the first trimester. I always liked oranges, but they seemed nicer and juicier than normal. Iron deficiency is common in pregnancy and I was prescribed iron tablets towards the end - I tried to remain conscious of that and buy more foods which were rich in iron, but overall, I think I ate what I wanted but ensured I ate a balanced diet of treats and healthy stuff.

The main things I avoided were liver, blue cheese and pate. I also avoided peanuts mostly - not because I agreed with the guidance at the time, but because DH's friend has 2 children, 1 with nut allergy and 1 without. The mother ate peanuts during her pregnancy but didn't with the other, so out of precaution I was happy to go along with that.

I'd read too it through if you want Feelie, but Im probably not as wise as some of the ladies here. Has it helped writing it down?

I have no diet coke in the house, travesty, so I used sparkling water and some leftover juice flavouring from when I did the cambridge diet, omg I put too much in, and it was soooooooo sweet, Keira burst out laughing as it was foaming in my mouth. RABIES TIME!

OH is away out to a comedy club, he better bring me back some juice.

Yeah Em, I *may* be, the pregnancy test told me 1 and a half pink lines....?! Hoping it was a dud.

Oh, can't remember who was looking for haloween costumes, but I love this one.

Someone gave me this as a present for Holly!?

She is 5 weeks old and they bought 3-6 months. She might fit into it for Christmas!!! How useless is that?! ha ha. It's the thought that counts though!!
