Mid-move removal panic

We've had the packers in today - 4 bed house, utility room, conservatory, garden pots and furniture, shed, and quite a lot of stuff. 3 men.
Van not big enough, have filled what they've got and gone for the day. They are bringing a second smaller one and more packing stuff tomorrow and seem quite sanguine that we'll make completion - but we're not and now we've had a good look round we are *really* worried - there is, I'd say, as much to pack as they've done in a 9-4 day today. Plus of course we want to clean up behind them and there isn't a room cleared yet, that's not the way they've done it. 70 mile journey after completion (fortunately buyers are not planning to move in tomorrow)
I have of course phoned the company and they say they really will be out for lunchtime and will have extra crew on but what if not???? Are we worrying unnecessarily? (I still have vivid memories of my parents moving when I was a teenager and having the 'van too small' scenario and removal men throwing stuff around at 10.30pm tired and fed up)

They are professionals, they've seen more houses full of stuff to be moved than you've had hot dinners.
They will have been able to expertly guesstimate the amount of time/men/effort required ... whereas to you it's all just overwhelming.
Chill out, it'll be fine.0 -
Or they may crash the van on the way, and the whole lot will end up spread over miles of motorway.0

Or they could have just taken the good stuff, and aren't actually coming back.....0

All doable by lunchtime. Calm down.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Well, *they* decided they hadn't got enough of anything - lorry space, people, packing stuff. And they did keep thinking they'd finished emptying cupboards in particular rooms and finding they hadn't... Guess as long as all those extras do arrive we should be OK.0

Hope you have got a house big enough to fit it all in!0 -
It's a similar sort of place in many ways but different kind of storage - no walk-in loft, no utility room, no cupboard under the stairs, but big cellar and big thing we refer to as 'the structure formerly known as garage' (it is a garage but there was a short steep drive into it so previous owners made hard standing which comes 2/3rds way up!) Bigger sitting room and master bedroom.
Definitely some juggling to be done.
If Emmzi's experience was comparable with mine we'd've been gone yesterday (did that timescale include them doing the packing?) - and clearly someone in the company *did* underestimate because everyone is admitting that the van they planned to use for the whole lot is too small (demonstrably as already full) My parents nightmare occurred because they didn't get to choose their own remover, the organisation paying just went for the cheapest and they failed to discuss the contents of their loft...
Which was why I kept stressing to the surveyor that we had a lot of stuff. We discussed plants in pots in the garden - he told me we didn't have that many, the men yesterday said "You've got a lot of pots"...
Does that clarify why we are not able to just think 'they are professionals, they know what they are doing'? (Bear in mind that last week our exchange was delayed because our solicitor had failed to do two things that should have been done in August, despite me having checked that on our side we were 'good to go' - I hadn't thought I needed to say "Have you done X? Have you done Y?" and thought "Is there anything left to do?" was good enough and it wasn't)0 -
Good luck today and let us know how you got on.0

When you booked them, did you fill out one of those massive sheets detailing all the big things you were taking and a guess on how many boxes, or was it simply 'moving a 4 bed house from X to Y'?“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
