Thanks Schuboy for the info on Marbenjo Car hire. I am looking to use them in July @ Malaga Airport. I can not find any reviews for them. As anyone used them? Any feed back would be useful.
Thank you0 -
GOLDCAR will NOT let you under any circumstances is my experience...
It is difficult to separate the bad from the very bad in southern spain especially, but for sure top of the hate list is GOLDCAR when it comes to the infamous full out / empty return car hire fuel policy. This in fact in it's worst form adds approximately €53 on top of a one day hire, therefore the fuel is costing more than the rental car itself, very often.
Many other car hire companies are following suit. Tipoa Car Hire ( I am their local Alicante manager ) are an online broker ( with local offices ) and we can offer with one supplier at least in most of the Spanish airport locations a FULL out / Full return.
But as you rightly say everyone should study carefully the terms and conditions... Enjoy !
Denia Dan5 euros a gallon is absolutely correct (1.09 per litre) it is you that needs to do your maths . .
11 gallons = 50 litres and at approx 1.10 Euros per litre (but it was almost 1.30 6 months ago) = 55 Euros, so you had to pay 60 Euros. Someone has to go and fill the car up. If you tell Goldcar you want to return it full then in most cases they will let you do it. By the way, Goldcar are one of the better companies in spain . . .0 -
Yes, they made me pay for a full tank of petrol (to be returned empty, which I didn't do in 2 weeks of driving in Portugal); but re insurance: when I said I'd got my own damage waiver cover, they charged €750 - yes seven hundred and fifty euros - to my credit card. Ok, they refunded it two weeks later, but in the meantime I've received my credit card statement and it's much more than it should be. I'm about to negotiate with the Halifax to get it down ... but Goldcar are rip-off merchants.
The trouble with going for a cheap deal through Auto Europe is that you don't know which company you're getting until you've made the booking. I'm avoiding them too in future.0 -
If you book Hertz (directly and not via ryanair.com) they will do full full in Spain. Via Ryanair they run full empty.0
