I wonder if the Insurance Ombudsman is the guy to sort this out? Surely the FSA is aware and concerned about this blatant act of fraud. We can't all be wrong! Perhaps BBC Watchdog would take on this case.0

Hi again
Got home yesterday and there's a letter from SW saying my partner was sent a cheque on 21/8/2000 for £1615.28. I think not! Unless there's an epidemic of memory loss going around this is just designed to avoid paying out. Of course, its a bank so why am I surprised?
I've just penned a letter to them (to go with an email) quoting bits from their website (and aswering them) and telling them I want a satisfactory reply within 14 days. Hopefully it might annoy them. My partner has every bank statement from before the date the cheque was supposedly issued and didn't have another account. They'll claim they won't be able to provide certain info due to Data protection (convenient!) but must be able to or how can they say they sent the cheque! And if they did send it and someone else cashed it (althoughI can't see how) then that's fraud/theft.
I'll wait until I get an answer and then contact the FSA with a complaint. As someone else mentioned, there's always Watchdog and the Mail on Sunday has a good finacial section that always seems to have complaints in about something or other.
I want this money and I aim to get it because I don't like cheats and I don't quit!0 -
Yes there certainlt seems to be a lot of memory loss amongst us!!!!
Dont think I have much chance of fighting them, went to my bank today and they can only look back 6 yrs so no proof that I didnt recieve it:(
If anyone finds out where we can complain too I would love to hear.
Thanks.0 -
I too have recieved a letter stating that I was paid nearly £4000 in August 2000. I have emailed SW and also BBC Watchdog. I recon if we all emailed the watchdog then maybe our plight will be highlighted and the onus would be shifted to SW that we all had recieved said monies. Its worth a try.0

Hi I have all my bank statements for the last 20years (sad I know) but I expect they will say it could have been paid into any bank or BS account that had been opened in my name. I think SW have a responsiblity to provide details of when and where the cheque was cashed. My worry is that after 10 years the FSA and even the fraud squad will not be interested. Perhaps this is exactly what SW depends upon.0
