BT Broadband extended contract without my permission

Hi Stuart,
Ive just had the same thing happen to me today - extended for 1 year as of today... this was without my permission - and is the result of me phoning up a few months back trying to save a few pennies.... but always making sure the contract stayed the same length.
I was a high paying, full package customer with BT for over a year, I am now moving house in 2 weeks and have a 12 month Braodband contract!!!
Dont think I have ever had so much grief, confusion and (deliverate or not) lies with any company before in my life. Not to mention the amount of hours I have spent on the phone trying to resolve it.
Hope you can help, this seems a little bit more personal.
Thanks

I have had the same problem with BT. After talking to several rude people over the phone regarding cancellation of my contract, I've been told different things. My phone and broadband contracts finishes on June, but apparently as I have BT vision my contract was extended without my consent? Nor I have a written contract to say that my contract was extended until December 2011. Now I am wanting to cancel my contract simple because the service BT offers is the worst I have ever had. And they want to charge me a ridiculous amount of cancellation fee even though my contract is supposed to finish at the beginning of June. It's just frustrating.0

I am here for my friend who is unable to connect Normally to the web, i was hoping to find some answers to his problem.
For he was thanks to his mother added to a 2 year contract without his permission (he is 20 so she should have needed his permission)
He was signed for 8 mb per second But BT claimed to send him 5 to 6 mb Download speed but what he is getting is around 10 Kb per second.
They even made it so he has to pay Double for getting almost nothing
Even his contract after a quick look said and it really specifically states they don't actually have to supply him with internet to claim payment, though lack of payment for whatever reason would lead to court and the rest of the contract period being added to the bill0 -
I moved home in January. I did phone BT at the end of December 2010 to ask if it was worth cancelling my contract before the end which was February. They said I would have to pay early cancellation fees that would be just as much as paying for the last month anyway. So I decided to keep paying until the end of my contract. I insisted on the fact that I did not want my contract to be renewed after the end of the 12months and the guys said that BT doesn't automatically renew contract. Then I moved... About few weeks ago I realised they were still taking money from my account and I stopped the direct debit. They now say I owe them money, while actually they owe me money!!! And I can't seem to be able to speak to someone who does something else than reading prepared answers to me!!!!0

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
