  • have you tried your local...local history library. They usually have free access to Ancestry.com and if you and your partner have a library card you would get 2 hours each day free use between you. :j

If I buy this newest version can I still use my existing account on Ancestry, or do I have to start again?

Seems like a new account needed to me based on the info copied below from Amazon page:

†The Ancestry.co.uk Premium Membership begins upon activation of the free subscription with a valid credit or debit card but no money will be taken during the free subscription period. To cancel your membership without incurring a charge to your credit or debit card, go to https://www.Ancestry.co.uk, simply login and go to 'My Account', click on 'Cancel Subscription' at least 2 days before the free trial subscription is due to end, otherwise 100% of the monthly Premium membership price will be automatically debited from your credit or debit card. Use of Ancestry.co.uk is subject to our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. See https://www.Ancestry.co.uk for full details.

My subscription is about to end and I hadn't realised you need to cancel two days before. If I click on this to cancel will it stop me using the subscription for the last 2 days or just stop it renewing?

Also has anyone managed to get TopCashback on joining when already signed up, or is it most likely to track properly for new joiners?

    Thanks :)

update in case anyone reads this thread in the future and wants to know - my subscription carried on being active once I pressed "cancel" - for another day. The day it says it expires you can no longer use it though, only up to the day before that one. Hopefully if I am patient they might send me a 10% off (or more) offer to rejoin, as it's quite expensive. They keep sending me 25% off emails for the US site. :(

    thanks :)

Sorry - bit late seeing this. Do you have Tesco vouchers? Go to their deals and look at the Family Tree computer programme - under the old system it cost me £15 in vouchers. It includes 6 months membership to Ancestry! You don't have to use the family tree thing - I haven't as yet. I was already using the two week free membership and they actually added the 6 months from the day the freebie trial ended!
