Disabled Car Tax Disc (no payment)

Actually psst, to get any DLA at all is incredibly difficult. I have two quite severe and very painful mobility issues and they won't even give me low rate.
There are a lot of invisible illnesses that you can't tell how bad they are. Say it's something like asthma, which I have, for me it's more of an annoyance. I have been in hospital twice with it, but I would never dream of calling myself disabled with it. However, I work with someone who has it, and his is awful. He can only walk a few steps without needed him inhaler, he is constantly in hospital for months at a time with it. So even with common illnesses, there can be quite a range with it.
Obviously there will be jammy so and so's who work the system by maybe putting the right wording, but you need medical evidence for DLA, not just your word, as far as I know."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

I was not spying on him, he was showing us his new car and I just happened to notice it said 'disabled' on the tax disc.
new or 7 years old doesn't make a difference, you can use HRM to lease new cars or to purchase new/used cars.
As I said before, it's a subjective opinion. If it bothers you that much then maybe next time he pleads poverty you could ask to compare bank statements.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

It doesn't bother me what money he gets! I was just asking a question that interested me.
And the day I posted, I was a little fed up of him saying how poor he is, I must admit.
But otherwise it doesn't bother me in the slightest, I was just wondering whether you had to have a disability allowance to get the disabled tax disc, so posted here, that's all.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

My neighbour has just spent a month concreting his own drive after taking up all the slabs himself, cladded his shed, himself, put up all new guttering himself, and just managed to get himself a nice big brand new motor home from happily being on high rate mobility for 18 years now. Oh yes and purchased two matchnig expensive bikes to put on the back of the motorhome for when he doesnt wnat to ride the motobike he keeps in his shed. Obviously he is a genuine case :rotfl:0

This is where all the money goes. When genuine cases come up there is not any left. Fetch back them little disabled cars in bright red with DISABLED written on them in large letters.
Don't get me wrong there are people who need these benefits but then there are others as in your neighbour and the carers who just take the pee.:rotfl:
This system needs to be changed and save the tax payer millions of pounds a year. I've yet to see someone who isn't screwing the system one way or another. Its an open ticket to luxury. Why can't a majority of these people work, they can use a computer ok, a phone ok, drive ok.
One I seen who could only walk with crutches to his review was perfectly able to put up scaffolding the following day.
I sit back now with my tin hat on :eek:0 -

You have sold your house in spain?
No, we are not selling it....we came to the UK for an extended holiday and I found I had to stay here for a while for various reasons. We are lucky enough to have a house in both countries.
We were going to do half-and-half next year anyway, so it's just come forward a few months. The Spanish house will be our second home.
I have applied for a temporary job, but if I don't get it we will probably head off to Spain around the middle/end of October for the winter months.

Yes, that wouldn't be demeaning to the genuine cases. And please realise that the amount of fraudulent claims are very, very low. Yes, the newspaper highlights the fraudulent, but what about those that do deserve it? There are no articles on them.a11waysindebt wrote: »I've yet to see someone who isn't screwing the system one way or another.
So in which way are you screwing the system? Or are you the only exception to this judgement?a11waysindebt wrote: »Its an open ticket to luxury.
Are you kidding? Have you ever sat and worked out this so called luxury? A carer for an example gets £53.10 a week to live on, and they have to be doing 35 hours or more caring hours. So if we divide that by 35 (and of course many carers don't just work 35 hours, but have to be there 7 days a week, and 24 hours) they get a grand total of £1.51 an hour. Last time I checked minimum wage was £5.73. Gosh, what luxury.
Don't even get me started on disability benefits. You do know those genuine cases are often on it for life, not just (hopefully) short-term like unemployment – so are they supposed to be in total poverty for their entire life?a11waysindebt wrote: »Why can't a majority of these people work, they can use a computer ok, a phone ok, drive ok.a11waysindebt wrote: »One I seen who could only walk with crutches to his review was perfectly able to put up scaffolding the following day."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
A young woman I know claims DLA for a disability. Her disability is invisible. If you looked at her, you would not know she had one. But I can assure you it is entirely genuine.
That is why we should not judge whether people are 'entitled' or not.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
