Running my Vauxhall Astra on veg oil

Thats the Corsa about dead, time to start looking for something else.
Tax is up end of Jan, wont be renewing.
Its nothing to do with running veg oil either.
Needs a fuel tank, rear brakes, exhaust system and suspension work. The clutch cable is also nearing the end of it's adjustment and is starting to crunch sometimes going into reverse again.
Thats before the MOT tester gets his hands on it in March.
Ok doing it myself wont cost much, probably a couple of hundred but I struggle to get the weekly shop in it anyway.
So I'm looking at absolutely anything under a grand that'll run on veg/bio without any hassle.0 -
The MOT and tax are up at the end of Feb on my Pug 406 and I'm pretty sure a similar amount will need doing to it to get it through, I will just run through the MOT checklist to see if there is any DIY stuff that can be done, but I'm not spending anything on it. I'll just pick up something in reasonable condition up to my usual £500 budget that can take the old veg oil!
I've been mightily impressed with the Pug though, it's never let me down over the past year, and started first time, every time in the recent sub-zero temperatures!0 -

It's going on to other things (or at least the parts compatable with a nova will be).
Failing that, the great scrap yard in the sky filled with whatever metals lying around at the time.0 -
Good luck with the new car hunting. I'll be interested to hear what you finally plunge for and if it runs good on veg. Happy new year!0
