Halifax for me
And for me too. I like Halifax's online banking "user-friendliness" and the ease of setting up new standing orders and bill payments. But their savings rates are - most of the time - pretty rubbish so I go elsewhere to stash my cash. But like many others I have a Nationwide Flex account and credit card for my foreign travel needs. Also, I opened a Barclays current account a few years ago, when they were paying £50 to new account holders, and kept it open in case it helped with other attractive offers. And it did - eg, when Barclays Regular Saver account offered the best available rate. Keep your options open, I would say.0 -
I'm with Smile mainly for their ethical stance although I'm thinking of changing. I'm so sick of their card reader security device, it's even needed when I'm paying credit card bills in my own name or transferring small amount of money to other account I've transferred to 100 times before. I don't have a card reader at work, so I can't use most of the online account features there. I don't carry it with me, so I can't bank on my mobile any more. It's SUCH a pain needing the card reader and debit card with you all the time to do even simple things. I do all my money transfers from Egg now as it just works. May ditch the Smile account completely. Smile don't seem at all interested in my feedback.

I would have thought peeps on here would have been more savvy. I suppose it is that wonderful inertia that banks thrive on.

Some of us on here aren't lucky enough to be able to choose which bank they are with due to historical bad credit / debts etc. I'd love to switch away from LTSB but it's just not possible at present.mmmm, still seeking something witty to be my auto-signature . . . so this will have to suffice for now0 -
Hey, you cant say Lloyds is the "fave" bank. There is no mention of favourite in the question.0

I agree. I bank with Lloyds and have a couple of other main accounts as well elsewhere and they are certainly not my favourite.0 -
Nearly panicked when I read the weekly email, I thought "Where's HSBC - does no one else bank with them?? Are they that terrible ?" Glad to see on closer inspection that they're actually second most popular, makes me feel warm and fuzzy and safe0

Agree that you can't really title the result 'fave banks' because you didn't ask that question. I was with Woolwich (which was excellent) but swept into Barclays (terrible backwards step). Can't move 'main bank' because all tied into my Openplan mortgage @ 0.5% over base (1.25%). Also Have accounts with Coop (great) & FD (also great).
Voted Barclays because thats my main account not my favourite!!0 -

I note that the top scores go to both Lloyds TSB and HSBC both with 11% of the vote but Martins newsletter stated that Lloyds TSB was the winner with no mention of HSBC. Since they were one of the few banks not to need any government money due to conservative lending policies and a sensible asset to liability ratio I think they should get a lot more positive press than they do and not be black listed like this.My Debt Free Diary LBM March 2010
