Edgex, I went to your site but when you choose what you want they show you the same models and prices as the normal Dell site....

As long as you have the install discs and it's not a really old version, then yes, but you are only licensed to run it on one desktop and one laptop at any one time, unless it is a larger licence version (such as home/office or family packs)

For the best Dell deals go to this site: https://www.dmxdimension.com

If you are set on the Dell, get the version with Vista Home Premium instead of Vista Basic. i.e.; Dell

Suggested extras include the WLED screen for £10 and the 6-cell battery for £15.00. That would bring the price to £368.
Everything else can be obtained seperately for less. For instance, Bluetooth for less than £2 and the Office Suite, as indicated earlier, for £39.

If you are on a tight budget, you can grab one of these. They usually arrive as new, have a 'spill-proof' keyboard (important for students) and will keep the cost of the whole package including Office 2007 Ultimate to under £300. More info.

Thanks Donnie! That Dell option seems good. Did you put it together or is it "off the peg"? I was thinking 17" screen but daughter tells me 15 is OK. would it not be too small?

Yes, someone had mentioned the refurbished but the ones we looked at were more or less same price as the new... I don't know I would dare to buy a LT from Ebay. Is the make good? TIA!

The price of the Dell in post #17 has changed since I posted yesterday. The web cam is no longer included and the base package is £20 more than it was yesterday. So to bring it up to spec will now cost £403. Then you'll have to add Office costs to that.... not worth it in my opinion.

The Fujitsu has now sold out(others can view your thread too), but this 17" Toshiba is still available for £313.

You are not purchasing from Ebay, you are purchasing from Argos Clearance Bargains.
  • MY acer has vista premium and its been fine, came with microsoft office pre installed for 3 mths, then an offer to purchase,i didnt bother just downloaded open office, but it would start you off and then you could get the offer on the student discount.
Que sera sera-whatever will be will be
