Focus RS or VXR8?

  • The one they tested on top gear was the supercharged version so not the exact car. I think the supercharged one will be my next car but will wait one year. The supercharged version starts at £45K next year will pick it up for 20K with low miles.
  • If money was no object then would say the VXR8... (or if its really no object then the latest GT-R!)

If i was feeling sensible - and i usually am - then would say the ST with the Mountune.. Regardless of what the RS owners will tell you, FORD are secretly spitting that the conservative 260bhp Mountune) sits all over the RS and still Ford approved with warranty intact.

Get yourself a 6 month old ST with change from 15/16k and get the Mountune... you know it makes sense :-)

(oh, and avoid Graham Goode, his poxy "conversions" are all fart and no smell imo) :-D

Quite bizarre because I know someone (not that well) in that photo. I know you hear that a lot on the internet but it's true, honest guv!

May I ask what other cars you'd consider if you had £26k to spend? The only other option to me would be to buy a 2 year old Cayman (and save a bit more), I've considered most alternatives I think.

That's rather tasty! Got any side & rear views? Being female, looks count.. ;)

I saw a bathhurst special edition VXR8 last night in matt black paint it looked so menacing and sounded wonderful as it blatted past me on the dual carriageway.
  • I now understand where you were coming from... and it would've been funny if I had known.. :o

Or had the brains to work it out!

  • If it was me I'd buy the VXR8 - its a monster of a car and much more interesting than the ford. Having said that the depreciation on the VXR8 will probably be monster too.

Nah, the VXR8 isn't that special to look at, in fact in the railway station car park I use it is positively dull compared to the following that is often parked next to it:

2008 models available for under £22K.
That's what I call an American muscle car, has the right style.
It's totally dire to drive of course, but what did you expect.

Even when you get the VXR8 for £26K it's still 88p per mile over 36 months and 36,000 miles. You can (if you wanted to) run a £32K+ BMW 335i SE with no options for 72p per mile, probably 80p-88p with the options you would want over the same period and distance with a 400 mile tank range to 30mpg.
